I have the same compaint of "The Avengers" teaser. I didn't see anything to differentiate it from the last 10,000 Marvel/DC the-world-is-in-peril who-will-save-us-now semi-yawners. My expectation is that the movie will be excellent, but how do you show the difference without giving away huge spoilers. I wish that I could have gone into "Serenity" without knowing River was going to kick butt, but I don't know how you get the big audience without it.

@cjthecop - it was 14 episodes - Fox only aired 11 during the original run *and* out of order! I actually didn't like it originally until I saw the "real" first 2 episodes years later which setup the ship, alliance and the mystery of River being smuggled aboard. Why Fox didn't do this is bizarre and undoubtedly hurt the series and turned of many, many potential fans. Love it now and "Serenity" is superb!

Damn Fox! Firefly was the best science fiction show ever made!!! Those characters, were so deep, especially Mal, and Nathan Fillion portrayed Mal so well. Firefly accomplished way more in a season than other shows with 10 seasons... Firefly is the best!

First of all, it's "scifi", or "science fiction" if you want to be accurate. Secondly, just in the trailer we see: spaceships, a miniature EMP, a planetary satellite station and holograms. No 'sci'? Fail troll is fail.

At the time when Fire Fly was on the air there were a slew of bad sci-fi shows. So I never tried it. Then this movie came out I had no idea it was Fire Fly. I watched it the second I got a chance too and I was hooked. I became a big fan of the show. it is sci-fi at its best.

Amazing show, Firefly is. I like many others watched the entire run in 3 sittings, it didn't take long for its hooks to sink into me. If Fox was losing money on the show I could maybe understand their decision to cancel it but I don't think that was the case. According to wiki it was rated 98th and averaged over 4.5 million viewers per episode. Fox really blew it with this one. Oh, the movie is great if any of you are wondering whether to give it a chance.

Serenity wasn't nearly as good as Firefly, they kind of went in the wrong direction with it (more space opera than space western, which worked well for the series), but then again I can't say it's bad in any way. I just found it an ok Sci-Fi movie, one that I probably wouldn't register as very interesting if not for being a great fan of Firefly. But still.

People question why it was cancelled. Consider this. Firefly is essentially a show that is quite anti-goverment, anti-establisment etc. When it was aired, do you really think the powers that be (which also influence/own fox) wanted that kind of an idea in the minds of Americans?
