I don't think this song should ever have been reduced to just the piano and voice. While Chris Martin's singing has a great deal of energy, I feel like the piano was "holding him back." He did not sing as powerfully or with as much energy as he would have been able to when the whole band was playing as he had to make sure that his voice wouldn't drown out the sound of the piano.
