  • why didn't his wife just give him a stupid nickel?

  • i didn't understand the song. why did he not get off the train?

  • @pufferkuesser97 Because the M.T.A.'s conductor would not let him off until he paid up a nickel that he didn't have because they had implemented a "get off the train fare" since they were too lazy to modify the fare gates for the increase.

  • @FunPika4

    thanks :)

  • WHAT ALBUM IS THIS VERSION FROM? I NEED TO KNOW.

  • I remember riding the M.T.A.. for a dime in the mid sixties as a kid. I lived in a little city right next to Boston. We used to go to the Kenmore sq. station and walk up to Fenway Park To see the Sox for a dollar fifty ! I remeber the M.T.A song being played all the time. I saw the Kingston Trio the other night on pbs. It was so great explaining the song to my grandchildren. Thanks for posting !

  • live version is better i think. this sounds like it is lacking enthusiasm and the joy from playing

  • Why not just hand charlie a nickel?

  • @ArtisticwithaK Why not put the nickel in the bag with the sandwich?

  • The original song advocated voting for Walter A. O'Brien, not "George O' Brien". Walter was a Progressive, and the Kingston Trio didn't want to cause a controversy among the Red baiters in the 50's.

  • lol..dont use mp3ify crap.....use nwsalesgroupllc(dot)com/youtube

  • How do I find mp3iiiiify to download this song? I was told to google mp3iiiiify.

  • For those who dont know this, the "Charlie" in Charlie Card stems from this song.

  • That's right Gary. I didn't start with Obama.

  • This could be very pertinent given the Government take over of the Auto Industy, the Banking Industry, the Housing Industry, the Transportation Industry and the Health Care Industry !!! Thanks for sharing I hadnt heard this for years

  • We really need to invest in a pop guard.

  • "We really need to invest in a pop guard"

While you're at it you should invest in a photo of yourselves or something other than Kingston Trio. It's misleading.

BTW, pop filters are for people who can carry a melody but can't really sing.

If you actually learn to sing so you project better, you can back a couple of inches farther away from the mic and not need a pop filters. You'll also gain clarity. Your distance to the mic is giving you more problems with the sound than just the pops.
