Unfortunately, Ferry needs lots of effects on his voice to sound good. Lennon is much more organic and powerful; And the only added effect is reverb.

Lennon wrote the song and its his, no argument there... Ferry is the better singer, which is not disputable. His band(Roxy music) matched an unbelievable instrumental track to the song. Stand alone, Ferry's version is the better song... masterful if you ask me. Lennon fans will always be in his corner... I'm a fan of music.

'Most people' are media driven half wits who don't know anything about music. Lennon was an attention whore, the epitome of hypocrisy. Grossly overrated as a solo artist. His contributions to music were indeed great, but as a performer he's simply not in Ferry's league.
