  • I had forgotten how good this track was. Found one rather thick and heavy picture disc of this at the weekend.

  • Still have it in picture 7" vinyl.

  • The best of 80's

  • I remember buying this in Probe, great single should have been a big hit!

  • one of my fav band!!!

  • mga briton ba mga ito?

  • @arnoldnoki Yes, out of The Care's ashes arose the band Wild Swans.

  • hanggang uwian na sinisigaw pa to sa concert ng wildswans..last song is the care so it really made my night..long live the wave..

  • This song was the crowd's last request at last night's The Wild Swans Manila concert. Though it wasn't granted, we all had a great time. Maybe there was some concern with the song rights with Ian Broudie. But they played "Whatever Possessed You" and that was that.

  • ang mahal ng plaka...........!

  • they dont make people like Ian Broudie any more great singer song writer

  • i love new wace too

  • black rikk binangonan.......new wave.....bagong alon the best tlga......

  • can someone send me the lyrics for this song.. really can't find it on net... thanks..!

  • love this song too such a beautiful melody, should have been a bigger hit.

  • thanks a million for this upload..!

  • This was very reminiscent of Edwin Collins type vocals from Orange Juice.

Loved it when i heard it. I was walking down my Glasgow High Street with my walkman on. It came on i stopped dead in my tracks, an old guy bumped into me from behind, shouted sumfin at me. Didnt give a damn coz i was so wrapped up in the music and then when it was finished i headed straight into the record store and bought it haha.

    Magic wee song

  • great song!!!!!!!!!!

  • Yes, it's one of the best...

  • It was PICC, early 90's and a promoter got all Manila's best mobiles to spin a few records each, Smilin' Harry Nolan of Power 105 was main MC, was almost 12 when I introduced Lopi of RSL, this was the first record he put on, he even wore a t-shirt from THE CARE, would have been a great nite if the promoter hadn't skipped out.

  • brings back memories of DWXB 102.7FM and DWNU 107.5FM in Manila Philippines during the 80s

  • A classic 80's number.

  • I've got your 'flaming sword' right here!

  • mahirap talagang balikan ang 80's kung wala ang new wave! Sana magconcert ang wild swans sa Pilipinas!

  • this is such a great song to set an example of my love of all things new wave and 80,s..growing up in england and going through my school years.these kind of songs bring back some emotional memories for me especially as i now live in the states..

  • The best talaga ang New Wave, I grew up listening to this. The best era in music is the 80's!!!

  • yup! 80's is the best not just in music hairstyle rin ata',

  • paul simpson and ian broudie (care duo) splitted because of their musical differrences..

  • 80's the best, my university days, the time you learn lots of things

  • was the singer ian brodie from the lightning seeds or is it a myth

  • @martymayo Do not know if you have recieved a reply to your question as I see it was posted a year ago. The singer was Paul Simpson and Ian Broudie played the guitar, they wrote it together,

  • Still beautiful--I never tire of the 80s. It was a watershed time for me.

  • nice song ...nu107 used to play it.

  • got the 12 inch of this, actualy no longer than the single lol,but its still a good tune!

  • ONE OF A KIND ;-)

  • love this song

  • great!

  • one on the best,CARE,they produce only one album, dont know wat happen, but still they contributed to the new wave era

  • Not quite sure where all the stuff about OMD fags came from ..... seems a bit lame to me ... :)

  • wonder what brought you here then?

  • 'cause you were busy listening to menudo biatch

  • bringin' back the years! new wave rules!

  • old school new wave will never be duplicated,,

  • Bought this in 12" 1983 with one of my first wage packets. Class, hav'nt heard it in years. Very OMD'ish.

  • Great melody!

  • memories of the lads from bootle on holiday in spain mid eighties, cheers for posting

  • This was originally a song by Care, formed by Paul Simpson (The Wild Swans) and Ian Broudie (later of The Lightning Seeds). This song was recorded around 1983, years before the version by The Lightning Seeds was recorded.

But it IS Paul Simpson and Ian Broudie.

  • New Ways lo descubrió. Un gran grupo y buena versión. 80s lo mejor !!!

  • Enjoying a degree of success and/or cult status in the USA, Germany, UK, Japan, and especially the Philippines, The Wild Swans also spawned two interesting splinter projects; Care and The Lotus Eaters. As the parent outfit, The Wild Swans remained the cornerstone and historically, will probably be remembered as the most revered and influential of the three projects.

  • thanks for posting....THIS is MUSIC....unlike the ones we have now

  • the lead singer of the care sounds like the wild swans lead singer.

  • coz they are the wild swans, lol,if im not mistaken, and do correct me if m wrong, they are the care , then changed it to wild swans then to the care again.

  • it is actually a combination of lightning seeds and wild swans.

  • ha it...the care....idol jud

  • i thaught this was OMD

  • understandable, you are on the right track, lets face it, you could be listening to Kylie

  • Don Bosco Technical College HS Batch '86.

  • This is one of the few songs of the time (80's) that doesn't get "disco-mixed". I'm glad about that.

The Care is also the band that sang Chandeliers. The song imitated by the Filipino band Orange and Lemons in their PBB themesong. What a shame!

  • please dont be a new to pinoy.. you know why ! we have a word called gaya-gaya.

  • where's the "My boyish days" vid? Cant wait....

  • one of my all time favorit tracks that only reached 45 in the uk charts, the 12" version is just slightley longer.if you like this check out 'my boyish days'which did not chart at all but its just as good.also worth a look is a tv show version of whatever possesed you on youtube somewhere.

  • hey guys can u help me name this song? The chorus goes like "You know when lightning strikes, there is nothing u can do, you know when lightning strikes, all those feelings will shine through." Been searching for a while now... Thanks. New Wave Forever.

  • when lightning strikes by positive noise -rainman

  • hey thanks so much....Long Live New Wavers...

  • Hello torontokads, I believe you are referring to a song titled "When Lightning Strikes" sung by the group Positive Noise. A hit single way back in 1982. fyi.

  • 23rdjetsky, thanks man.yeah that's right...now does anyone have a copy of the song? hehehe...

  • This song would go so well with like a Dungeons and Dragons type of video... an ancient enchanted land with elves and wizards and heroic knights pure in heart; on which great magical weapons are bestowed in honor of their great deeds... magical weapons such as the powerful FLAMING SWORD.

  • nice,im feeling young again.

  • Where's the original video?

  • Paul & Ian never got round to making a video for this one, much like they never actually got round to releasing an album before Paul went back to the Wild Swans and Ian went on to form the Lightning Seeds. Doesn;t detract from it being a fantastic track, though! :)

  • Ok,tnx!!for the info. They're one of the best groups ever swept in the world music scene.Shame they don't probably understand the value of making a music vid. They're just enjoying clips in the late night show, lip syncing their tracks.Bad years for bands they tend to do commercial things just to get to mainstreams.:<

  • MY PLEASURE!!

  • Back in the days of the former DWXB 105. My favorate.

  • At last! This is definitely one of my favorites. Thanks dickbo02 this is quite a treat.
