  • I remember listening to this on the original LP....my Dad knew these guys/gals quite well.

  • I am a fan of late sixties/early seventies Canadian music.I lived in Detroit at the time and listened to CKLW, CKWW, CHYR CFCO AND CHOK. Thanks for ptting out this video and song- I was looking for that song. Do you have the song , I beleive the title is "Oh Lord, Don't You Think It's Time" by the Bells from '72?

  • Great song !! The 70's were so awesome for music, what gems :))

  • A hearty thank-you for posting these - many, many gems!

I remember a song I heard in the early 70s - "The House On Hawley Hill" - it may have been the group Gallery but I was never to hear it again, it was a catchy tune.

Thanks again, all your work is much appreciated!

  • I have not heard some of these songs since I was a teen way back in the 70s.

Many of these songs bring me back to the most fun time of my life.

I am increasingly amazed at the amount and range of talent among little known and heard (outside of Canada) artists and bands.

Especially the early to mid-seventies material.

  • thanks for this mojofilter02. i remember this song when i was a kid, but never knew the name of it, or who sang it. gotta love The Bells :)

  • I'm listening to an original pressing of the 1971 album "Fly Little White Dove Fly", Polydor catalogue no. 2424 022. I also have a reissue with a different cover and title (Stay Awhile), same catalogue no. and same tracklisting. The weird thing about the issue is, that on the cover and label, the album title is "Stay Awhile", but on the spine, it retains the title of the original pressing; "Fly Little White Dove Fly".

  • @OldMusicOnVinyl1

That's a graphics department goof. Somebody wasn't paying attention!

  • Nice!!! Thanks for posting.

It would be great if someone posted The Bells' version of "Simple Song of Freedom"!

  • awesome collection of Cancon tunes - Charlie O'Brien CKLW/CKWW Windsor

  • Do you have "the Other Side of Me", also performed by the Bells?

  • No, I'm sorry, I don't have that one.

  • I love the Bells. Thank you for posting. Would also love to see posted Carry On by Cliff and Ann Edwards.

  • I have'nt heard this song in nearly 40 years. I've searched high and low for this thank u so much for posting it

  • Hello,

for better for worse by the bells

I think of this as marriage because of for better for worse this is just my interpretation.

  • There was a couple of songs by the Bells I think... I believe the title song was Rich Man Poor Man and He Wants Me He Wants You or something along those lines..

Been trying to find these 2 songs for ages.

    Would appriciate any help here.

    Thanks!

  • VERY rare song. Recall this one playing on WCOL Columbus OH around Christmas 1971. This was a real flashin the pan.

  • I'm always amazed whenever you post some of these long-lost gems. I suddenly find myself immediatly singing them even though I may not've listened to them for what seems like decades.

  • There's one song by Cliff and Ann Edwards that got airplay in '72 or '73, "Carry On" I think it was called. Nice middle portion of this song, which I'd not heard before.
