The person just cut the paper to get the right ratio of the paper. No cutting was involved to actually make the model itself.
This is still origami. Imagine making the 5 intersecting tetrahedra. Obviously, it is still origami, but cutting may be involved to make the proper ratio.

The Thumbs down is probably due to the rudeness in which he delivered his comments. Although the accuracy of his facts are true, it was very rudely delivered. There are more appropriate and impacting ways to get one's message accross.
If there are internal cuts (making a hole) then it's considered karigami, which isn't nearly as skillful as origami. Origami can start with any shape, as long as there's no hole and still be origami. I do believe gluing is allowed because it doesn't change the way it's folded.

Then again, I'm sure we can find some fundamentalists out there who would even scoff at that as well. I guess the definition of an artform changes from person to person... :)
the diagrams are to confusing and they're not in english. this isnt helping either O.o sorry if i offended u but i got to the point where i was assembling them and i could put them together so i was wondering if u have an english version of the diagram or maybe u can make a video of this slower with u explaining?
Well I thought about it, but I don't know what to say. You can see what I'm folding, why hear some lame comments of what I'm doing (basically I would say "now do this" in a loop). If you have trouble you can view the diagrams, they're posted as links on my site.

Actually any kind of adhesive is technically not "Pure" Origami. But Origami is an ancient art and over the years its been liberalized.
Personally if I can't do a model without using only paper, I don't do it.
Oppinions are oppinions though.
