Nice Video This is Unreasonable Rocket's first launch attempt for the Northrop Grumman Lunar Lander Challenge level one prize That You Share , So Very Nice Thanks You
Pretty exciting stuff so I don't mean to sound mean but what's with the video? First looking right into the sun so you don't see the launch, then pointing at the ground so you don't see the landing.
they did crash it, it ran out of fuel 15 feet up slammed into the ground, the gear was bent and the motor hit the ground too! wonderful people and i wish them the best but that machine isn't going to win!
Is there any material that becomes highly electrized when hit with photons. Then you could make a solar sail, that powers maybe a plasma engine or something for launch and in space use major ion propulsion. Just a random idea with nothing much o back it up lol.
They're called solar panels. You describe "solar electric" propulsion. You have solar panels wired to an ion engine. Its done all the time. See: GOCE, Dawn & Smart-1
Weeellll... Electric rockets can't get you to orbit off the Earth. Even the VASIMR VX-200 isn't strong enough to lift itself of the ground.
But any off-the-shelf big dumb booster can lift your cool plasma-engined ship into space. The ol' Saturn V could lift a 180 tons of spaceship, moon lander & upper stage into low Earth orbit. But they don't make 'em like that anymore.
How does the thrust/weight of hydrogen peroxide compare to hydrogen-oxygen rockets?

thrust long time... maybe they should try for orbit... use the oxygen produced along with hydrogen to give extra thrust

so does that count as stable or what? I mean it's pretty good, but you gotta adimt it oscillates a bit
pr4wn5tar 9 months ago
@pr4wn5tar I would say that was a damn stable flight for 2 civilian hobbiests maintaining a hover with rocket engines. Shit's not easy.

This Rocket Launch probably resulted in 500 UFO sightings.
Clean your camera.

LOL i know about solar panels but more along the lines of what is in the movie "Treasure Planet" I think
bogieman987 2 years ago
Oh.. I haven't seen that one.
