its prob just another synth, dedicated to basslines. sounds like it could be the same guitar sounding synth (which could just be square waves) just a few octaves lower

im not slating this band cos they sound ruff, but i wouldnt be comparing dj's to live bands sayin that dj's do fuck all cos that is far from the truth, & they're completely different.

for example if this band wanted to drop out the high end frequencies and slowly build it up to a filthy drop they would have to rig the entire setup to go through some sort of mixer with frequency control dials on it.

Djs are not "non-musicians" but they can't do as much musical stuff as a live band

compairing disk jockeys with musicians is like compairing cars with motorcycles. both are vehicles yet they are totally different. as here djs and musicians both deal in music but from different angles. musicians are musicians and djs are djs. the defining difference being that musicians Create music while djs tweak and play it back

I'm a drummer (and I produce dnb in my spare time), and I have to take issue with that... It's a live performance, not everything has to be quantised to perfection - in fact that's the essense of live, timing and tempos don't always stay perfectly synchronous.

In the bits where it matters, the drummer's perfectly in time - and he's consistent too. You try drumming breakbeat at more than 180bpm!
