  • Sorry but I can barely see whats happening on this video.

  • @terrencesauve The camera doesn't provide the best video,it does better with still shots. Just workin' with what I've got.

  • JONSERED??!!? my stihl 036 cuts faster than that!!! and it has over 1,000 hours on it!

  • Oh come on. I've got an 052 and that log would make that grunt ripping it. Fred usually runs the Jonsered and a Stihl, double the power and with the opposite design both saws have leave the gas and oil fills up.

  • The nearly finish product is on my BG. Will stay up until Mon. 8-17 pm.

  • That slab was trimmed and installed as a counter 6/20. As soon as I get "up on the hill" I'll post a picture of the finished product.

  • wow...that's one tough saw.

  • 'Ol Fred said the way to really cut wood was with the Jonsered on one end and a Stihl saw on the other. The gas/oil fill on the Stihl is on the other side so both saws have the fill holes up.

  • nice video, fellas. We are having less and less sawmills in Montana now that the environmental terrorists chanllenge every timber sale. Lots of jobs lost here.......

  • Same is happening here. Old Fred is retired and this is basically his hobby.

  • Turkamine, think I marked you as spam, sorry. Whats that cactus, saguaro? Don't they rip that down like boards?

  • Nice jig, I like it. Not a whole lotta trees out here in the desert. Does it work on cactus?

  • Is there like a preset level to do this? The cutting I mean.

  • I didn't include the first cut. You level up a board as a guide, cut your slab piece, then set your thickness by adjusting the guide height to the blade. You can see Karl checking the depth on both sides of the board at the start of the cut.

  • I am not a lumberman. I am trying to learn to help me for the future. Is it like using a straight edge?

  • Yes. The guide board starts you on a straight cut then the successive cuts should be straight. A note Fred found you get a much smoother cut by filing the teeth on the chain square instead of the normal 30-35 deg pitch. It works real good.

  • I guess you and Fred could teach me that too. LOL!!
