check on the repositories for compiz manager for the 3d effects, and emerald for the themes looks =), and for the settings take a look in "animations" =D
Instead of bogging your system down with all these fancy effects (which are cool, but...), just install OS X. It works on a good amount of hardware, both Intel and AMD. AND, effects are built in and optimized, so they don't kill your CPU.

he would appear to be running Ubuntu with the Beryl display manager added on. Beryl is know for having lots of eye candy and has different themes but I could not tell you what theme he has. But, to run Beryl you will want to have an Open GL compliant video card. I have a Geforce FX5500 with 256 MB of video ram and Beryl runs quite nice with that though I have to run a driver utility when a new kernel comes out which is not hard but be sure you know how to do before hand.
Well, the theme looks like the "Mac4Lin" theme version 0.3 (don't get 0.4 it's not as nice looking). The program Compiz-Fusion runs the effects (but a stripped down version comes with the OS). He's got "Avant Window Navigator" to run the dock.

When I saw this i decided to download ubuntu.
Could you please tell me what theme, software or whatever...did you use to make your ubuntu look like this?

he would appear to be running Ubuntu with the Beryl display manager added on. Beryl is know for having lots of eye candy and has different themes but I could not tell you what theme he has. But, to run Beryl you will want to have an Open GL compliant video card. I have a Geforce FX5500 with 256 MB of video ram and Beryl runs quite nice with that though I have to run a driver utility when a new kernel comes out which is not hard but be sure you know how to do before hand.

Well, the theme looks like the "Mac4Lin" theme version 0.3 (don't get 0.4 it's not as nice looking). The program Compiz-Fusion runs the effects (but a stripped down version comes with the OS). He's got "Avant Window Navigator" to run the dock.

why, because you can make a free one look like os x? if you use a very limited array of software, then linux is brilliant. otherwise it's trash.

it certainly does revive old PCs, for cutting edge PCs however, the support for gaming, webcam, skype, and such is terrible. the only thing making me stick to windows

Not to mention that you can run a good amount of windows software (yes, some games included) on Linux using WINE. Oh, and the fact that Mac OS X's Aqua UI is based primarily on OpenStep, which opens up the possibility of a MacWINE or something like that.
