  • Batman #687 was not only far better than I anticipated, it provides a necessary counterpoint to Morrison's take on the characters in Batman and Robin.

  • Very true. I enjoyed Batman & Robin #1, but it's nice to have something on the other end of the spectrum. B&R seems to have a little bit of this 60s show vibe, while Winnick's Batman is much more serious.

  • batman owns

cant wait for bruce to come back

  • Hey J, Elliott just wanna say big fan of your review videos just think is AWESOME that u guys work in a comic book store big dream of mine and sorry for cursing on my last comment on Ultimatum 3 it just that its sucks how they're hacking away the whole ultimate universe like a big slasher movie lol and well cant wait to read Captain America Reborn and About batman do you think that he really dead or he's probably just somewhere out there? anyways you guys are great

  • Thanks for the kind words Tony. At the end of Final Crisis Batman was trapped in the past so he still is alive. Don't know how, or when, they are going to bring him back though.

And, ya, Ultimatum is complete shit. He he...

    J.

  • Yeah I didnt read that can u tell me which issue or issues.

  • To see what happened to Batman you just need to read Final Crisis #6 and #7.

    J.

  • Thanks J appreciate it

  • do you think gotham is too crowded these days?

what happened to small army from Bftc did all those heroes go home?

still you have batman and robin, batwoman, question, huntress and now manhunter, ragman, presumably batgirl till the new one shows then she will be there and then gotham city sirens.

i know gotham is a big nyc chigago size city but wasnt it supposed to be batman's city?

  • i m still waiting to see how oracle and the rest of BoP fit into the new status quo in gotham

there is supposedly a new batgirl on the way i hope its not babs all healed up

  • It would have been good if at the beginning of the video the camera panned around 180 degrees to reveal a cue card with the words "And no, I'm not reading a cue card every time I say that..."

  • What do you think this is Hammy? SCTV? We don't have the budget for that. Maybe in 20 years we'll put that in the "Special Edition " release.

    J.

  • I love Invinciple Iron man and I've liked most of the issues of War Machine, but this huge mistake has made me not want to read anymore issues of War Machine. I don't get why Dark Reign books don't coexist with eachother its just a bunch of random stories some good, some ok, and some bad all of which have nothing to do with eachother. I don't fucking get it.

  • I think this is what happens when you do 6 company wide crossovers in a row with no break in between. People just stop giving a shit. I know I have.

    J.

  • Theres something that bothered me this week when it comes to a few of the books im reading. I picked up War Machine and Invinciple Iron Man and I'm wondering why Tony Stark is portrayed completely different in each book. There both part of Dark Reign, but they totally contradict eachother. Tony is in serious shit in Worlds Most Wanted, but he's perfectly fine in War Machine. There both part of Dark Reign and due to the history of War Machine and Iron Man shouldn't each book coincide

  • The blame has to fall on the editors for that. There is only ONE book out there that has Tony Stark in it every month. If they can't coordinate his guest appearances in other titles with his own damn book that's just being lazy. Or maybe Marvel will explain that Tony's acting different in War Machine because of MAGIC. Ya, that always works out good. ;)

    J.

  • The issues with Iron Man have been going on ever since Civil War. You're right mbell, whenever you see Stark in another title, the character is inconsistent.

    Fail.

    Elliott

  • It's funny/sad to compare Marvel's handling of Cap's death with DC's handling of Bat's death. Marvel did a much superior job. I can't wait for Bruce Wayne to come back and the Joker to brutally murder Damian.

  • If by "brutally murder" you mean "takes him to IHOP and share some blueberry pancakes" then I agree.

    J.

  • mmm pancakes

  • Hmmmmm...I think you just gave Didio an idea DodgerRiley!

    lol

    Elliott

  • omg jose i went to go pick up the new issue of punisher and it was $3.99 you know why? because they added a bunch of shit about the people red hood brought back to life. the issue wasnt even that great! omg im so pissed off about this.

  • I picked that issue of Punisher up, generaldark, and you are right. It is 3.99. Shit. I didn't even notice...

  • waste of space man...waste of space :(

  • Ya gots to pay attention to what you're paying for the books. Marvels just hoping that people don't look before they buy.

On the other hand Streets of Gotham #1 was also $3.99. But that was totally worth it because of the cool Manhunter back up, If I'm paying more I want more and DC is taking care of that.

    J.

  • "Streets of Gotham" was worth it.

Speaking of Back-up story's, J, did you happen to notice "Booster Gold" will have a Blue Beatle Back-up story now?

  • Ya, that came out last week or so. Even though these character's books got canceled it's awesome to see DC still giving fans the opportunity to read their further exploits. I don't think a Question series would survive in today's market but I'll be happy to pay an extra dollar read the story as a backup in Detective.

On top of that the stories are being done by the original writers of the books which is good to see. This is the best thing DC is doing right now IMO.

    J.

  • Just in case she's watching, a shout out to Mrs. Serrano. Thanks for raising a bespectacled wordsmith I like to think of as the conscience of our generation.

  • The latino Kevin Smith and Jose is his Jay his rage filled Jay

  • If he's the conscience of our generation we are all fucked.

    J.

  • Hey, i'm just trying to make the lady feel good about this weirdo she raised.

  • Good luck with that.

    J.

  • Sigh. There is no Mrs. Serrano. She's a Delgado now.

    Elliott

  • I thought you were married. The lady didn't take your name?

  • No one with my last name, man.

    :-(

    Elliott

  • you could always adopt me

  • Are you puttin up another video tonight or what?

    J.

  • Uploading now.

    Elliott

  • Is it any good? I betcha it sux.

    J.

  • I bet you a 1000 Rupees, Wayne won't be back by issue #700.

  • He he. Why do you think he won't be back by then?

    J.

  • I dunno....just guessing.

  • Just curious what anyone thinks of the news of James Robinson and Mark Bagley taking over as the new creative team of JLA starting in October.

  • Uggg...I just read about that too. I am alright with half of that team.

    J.

  • You don't like Mark Bagley?!

  • Not his art, no.

    J.

  • yeesh! Next you'll be telln' me you don't like Kurt Busiek! :(

  • I don't like Kurt Busiek.

    I love him! Happy pappy?

    J.

  • That's cool. Don't think I'm busting your balls, Jose. I'm just curious.

  • No worries. I never think you're bustin' my balls dude. I'm just full of sarcasm.

    J.

  • ..and piss & vinegar

    :-)

  • With Jose, it's just piss...

    ;-)

    Elliott

  • *I literally spat green tea at my screen* LOL

  • At least we know it'll be on time that's for sure.

With that said I'm hungry for a big 7 JLA

  • Just heard the news myself. I think that JLA is going to rock. Bagley doesn't get enough credit for doing some solid work and he does it ON TIME. Hopefully he won't have to crank out his pages at an ungodly pace and get a chance to slow down and do some really polished work.

Plus Robinson was born to write JLA.

    Elliott

  • Bagley is worth 3 Bryan Hitch's for my money.

  • How about 2 Hitches and a Khoi Pham?

    LOL.

    Elliott

  • I see your dous Hitch and uno Pham for a pair of Liefelds and a Greg Land

    ;-)

    LMAO

  • I'll see your dous Hitch and un Pham with my tres Greg Horns. Ha ha ha...I win. But I also lose at the same time. :(

    J.

  • I agree that BFTC would have probably been better in Winnick hands and wonder what his script would of read like. Also curious about Red Robin now because of all the mix views on it, but still won't pass judgment til I read it.

  • I totally poke fun at the Obama Effect,'" series writer Elliott Serrano told CBR

COngrats on getting a well deserved plug on NEWSARAMA. yes i know they are eveil but id rather click on their site everyday than pay 6 bucks a month for old news in Wizard.

  • But the quote you posted is from today's interview on CBR. Nothing to do with Shitorama.

    J.

  • Yeah, and if you guys could go on the discussion boards and talk it up, that would be great.

    Everyone hates the idea...:-(

    LOL

    Elliott

  • who hates the idea? Obama is like the new Deadpool. That bad-boy is gonna sell! ;)

  • Putting the words "obama" and "deadpool" in the same post automatically registers you on the FBI watch list. Oh fuck now they got me too.

  • im really liking batman and red robin but i wanted to ask what do you guys think of Reborn: Captain America ?

  • We will be reviewing Cap #600 at our next taping. I liked it. Well, half of it anyways.

    J.

  • Thought Cap #600 was pretty good. Really looking forward to REBORN. It's the event I've been looking forward to since all this Dark Reign crap began.

    Elliott

  • really? I thought you would be a little skeptical about the whole reborn idea... or is that Jose?

  • That would be me pobra. I am still quite skeptical.

    J.

  • i don't blame you, if it wasn't for the fact that it will be taking over for the main Cap title, I would probably be avoiding it myself. Then again Brubaker has been known to pull off some pretty brave ideas and make them work.

  • I've been saying it for quite some time that Marvel was gonna bring Rogers back, so it didn't come as a surprise to me. Brubaker already had 'Reborn' in mind when he 'killed' Cap in the first place. I have faith that Bru will deliver.

    Elliott

  • Oh he will no doubt

Also anyone notice Butch Guice is the secondary artist? Just in case Hitch pulls a J.G. Jones

  • I think Guice is inking Hitch, which would make for an interesting pairing. They may also be splitting chores on the book as well. Guice can ape Hitch's style pretty well, helping the chapters mesh.

    Elliott

  • That could be the case, but we really know why he's there

  • initially i was really worried about the fate of the Batman titles after Bruce's "death", especially the main Bat title, but after reading this issue and B&R #1, it's nice to see that these books seem to be in capable hands. I skipped Red Robin but I'm excited for Detective. Fuck, what a relief after that BFTC bullshit.

  • red robin was alot better then the batman book from last week

  • I agree 100 percent.

  • and P.S i dont like so much how tim drake is calling himself tim wayne.

  • i like red robin actually. the art was tolerable but the ra's al ghul picture was awful i agree. over all thoe story wise i am looking forward to more red robin. and i dont want winick to have write BFTC because then jose wouldnt have had those epic rants lol. and what a way to wake up and find a new episode of CCW :)

  • Also, I too was really let down with Red Robin 1. Being a big Tim Drake fan, I really hope this book improves. I hated the art and the story was weak. I feel like he's being written as a generic Red Robin character and not Tim Drake.

  • I'm a fan of Chris Yost as well. I haven't read the book yet, but once I do, I'll chime in.

    Elliott

  • I totally agree with you guys. I thought Winnick knocked it out of the park. The Alfred scene got me a little emotional as well. I always thought Judd Winnick was an underrated writer. His run on Green Arrow was great. I'm pretending BFTC never happened.

  • Fanboy Dee is right though. Wonder Woman is a lame character, especially when compared to Barbara Gordon.

  • Apples and oranges. Both are great heroes in their own right.

  • Oh, please! All you have to do to stop Babs is flatten her tires or climb up a set of stairs.

  • LOL.

That was cold, johnnyhorror. Funny, but cold.

    Elliott

  • neither of them are as good as superman because he has two firm globes full of testosterone

  • Yeah, but those globes shrink when under a red sun.

    ;-)

    Elliott

  • I think WW potential hasn't been fully tapped (Heh..) Rucka came close

  • hey Jose, it could be worse! TD could jump ship and do Battle 4 the Shield. |: )

  • Where is 169?

  • 169 will be out once I figure out how to fit 1/2 hour of rambling into something that's interesting...

    :-(

    Elliott

  • Damn does no one besides me like Red Robin? I Mean it had good art and a good story what was so bad about? It was certainly better than Batman and Robin # 1 which was a total turn off for me.

  • i still trying to figure out why tim thinks batman is alive? whats his evidence? and him walking randomly around europe with a picture of bruce??? what kind of detective is that? what trail is he following ? what leads does he have? it would have been nice if the writer gave the readers some idea. tim has shown he is an excellent detective thats how he got the job as robin. he certainly didnt look like one in this issue

  • They had to do something with him now that damian is Robin.

I'd rather Tim became Nightwing with Jason as a demented Red Robin

  • Given what you guys are saying, isn't it possible that Daniels got shoved into a book with vague limitations and a strict bulletpoint set of points?

I mean you're clamoring for Morrisson and Winnick who should have been on BftC. Running the math, this is a failing of editorial more than creative teams. Of course, bench qbing is worth shit, but that's the two cents.

  • It's completely possible that Daniels got shoved onto the book but I really don't care. The end result was a piece of shit thanks to Daniels horrible "writing" and "art". In our older videos we also put the blame on Dan Didio.

    What was your point?

    J.

  • I'm not really sure. It just seems odd that Daniels gets shitted on and Winnick gets praised after ditching a book he helped to plan out. I guess if anything I'd like to give Daniels the benefit of the doubt. He failed a trial by fire, but it was still a trail by fire.

  • Winnick didn't bail, he was dropped from the book by editorial. Winnick has been showing a lot of class by not bitching about it openly. In the end, it doesn't really matter. He's still doing Batman and BFTC was DC's top-selling book. Water under the bridge.
