  • lissa8869--you have "codes" to do that stuff? Where can I get those codes?

  • On the drill bit end, What are you using to turn the "blender" part?

  • My friend let loose with one of his famous DIARRHEA attacks right in my fucking CAT GENIE. It has never drained correctly since. The smell of cooking liquid FECES is just PUTRID, DISGUSTING and VILE. Its pretty bad when the Cat Genie smells so fucking foul that the stupid cats of ours will not even go near it. :-)

  • Looks like you're making a Doo Doo Shake.

  • P.S. One more thing on the smell... This is a temporary smell that only occurs during the blow drying step. Once finished, the smell is gone. No matter what litter box you use, there will be a slight smell when the cats use it. They are going to the bathroom!!!! Just think of us humans when we go to the bathroom...

  • As far as the problems with draining, there is none. People that do not install it correctly by the manual will have problems. You need to make sure the exit line runs right on the floor and then 90 degrees up to the laundry drain. NOT DIAGONAL!!! The water supply line can be diagonal from the unit, but not the exit line. I have noticed that the less you clean, the more smell you will get during cleaning. Cat Mode cleans more times exactly after the cats uses it and is the most efficient...

  • I have had the CatGenie 120 Unit for a awhile now. No problems so far, and I am really enjoying not having to scoop litter anymore. I have the unit set on Cat Mode, which cleans it 10 minutes after everytime a cat uses it. It is located in my laundry room. The only negative is the slight smell of urine when the blow heats everything up. BUT... I would take this slight smell over scooping and cleaning a litter box anytime! Plus, by not keeping up scooping with my old litter box, it was much worse

  • Stop copypasting!

  • yeah thats the reason my cat is potty trained :P

  • HA HA I love it! I have done something similar in the past and yes it does work. Now if I can just train the cats to scoop up the granules they flung out of the gat genie, and put them back in!

  • I was thinking about that two and maybe a way to fix this would be to oersonally make a box surrounding the Genie fit to its dimensions so the cat could not swat granules or feces out of the litter box. I'd be interested to know if the inventors of it have come up with any solutions bc I'm sure you're not first to have that problem.

  • They sell a dome cover for it.

  • are you using some sort of drillbit attachment? If so what?

    Thank you,MK

  • LOL poopinart!

  • what attachment did you use on the drill???

  • The Maddening Scientist posted an instructable with details and pictures on Jan 28.

Do a google or yahoo search on "CatGenie: Unclogging and Cleaning".

You don't need a drill bit, make sure the chuck is completely open, your drill is in FORWARD mode, and don't go too fast (don't want to splash that yucky poo soup). Basically you are manually turning the impeller assembly (or "poopinart", as Scott calls it).

  • What is the discount code?

  • The discount code is F10299 and is good for $30 off the Tuxedo Package.

  • Kewl, thanks. That brings it not too far from the Tabby Package. I was toilet training my cats... and it has become too frustrating (they are getting worse rather than better) so I'm going to go with the cat genie. I had a roommate who got one.

  • I LOVE my CatGenie's. I was thinking about the whole toilet training thing, but I just don't know how guests would take going into a bathroom and finding that the cat had used the toilet before them!

Just a note - I got the packages mixed up. The discount is off the lower package which I think is the Tabby package (without the hood).

  • Her $30 coupon "F10299" doesn't work for the Tuxedo package, just the Tabby package. Instead, use "9871234", as it will get you $35 off the Tabby package. Then add in the hood, and you're still saving over the Tuxedo package.

  • But you are not getting the extra cartridges and box of granules. So in the end, even with the coupon, you spend more with the Tabby Package.

  • Actually, you don't. Add in the extra cartridges and the granules, and it's still cheaper (barely).

  • Let me explain:

    Tabby Package - $297.00

    3-Pack SaniSolution Smart Cartridge - $39.99

    GenieDome - $34.99

(This is exactly the same as the Tuxedo Package.)

Apply Coupon code: 9871234 for $35 discount.

    Shipping - $10.00

    Final Cost - $346.98

Or, buy the Tuxedo Package for $369.00 total.

    Savings of $22.02!

  • Ah, yes, you are correct. I was adding an additional box of granules (thought the Tabby only came with one). Wish I had figured this out properly BEFORE I ordered this today. Oh well...

  • Here is a $60 coupon "1400".

  • All this is totally unnecessary. Just call CatGenie's customer service. You won't believe how good they are.

  • You actually don't need to go through all that hassle. Just unplug the unit, plug it back in, and hold down both buttons - push the auto-setup button until the 1 & 4 light up, then push the start button. This runs a drain cycle. I have "codes" to do all the other stuff too!

  • Great! About to order one of these CatGenies. I'm sure this video will come in handy one day!

  • You know i think that would void your warrenty.i understand trying to save money on the cartridges, but they have great customer service for a reason.and to answer some questions from other posters...Yes it needs to be hooked up to water (cold) and it can drain in your toilet or laundry drain stand pipe.checktheir website for $, i have three cats using it, but it can use up to 4. Anyway i love my catgenie, just wouldnt try the above

  • Not sure where you got he was trying to save money on cartridges, I think he was showing how to unclog the catgenie at least that is what it says. I love my catgenie too.

  • Okay what is that all about, I mean is it to show that it never really drains or what? You need to explain this cause otherwise it just looks like you are playing with the water and drill.

  • Read the description. Clearly, sometimes the unit gets clogged (with cat hair, probably). You'd want to make it run a drain cycle without going thru the entrie cleaning process, wasting cleaning fluid when doing so.

  • This is interesting--I have the same questions as above. Price, do you hook to drain & water, and is it for more than one cat.

  • See my comment above to AlanMolstad

  • wtf, why would somebody post a video like that?

  • I thought this video was EXTREMELY helpful to anyone who owns a CG or is contemplating purchasing one. THANKS.

    PuuuRRRRRRRRR.....

  • do you have to hook it up to a drain& water

  • YUP - it's how it works, but it's really easy, and you can either drain it into the toilet or into your laundry drain (which is what I do - direct to the sewer system).

  • wtf are you doing?

  • I have a few questions...

I just now, just within the last 30 seconds, heard about this cat box.

    Is this a good thing?

    Does it really work?

How much money are they, and where are they sold?

  • They are SO worth it and work wonderfully! I have 4 cats and 2 CatGenies, and I will NEVER go back to anything else. Even with a Littermaid, you have to change a waste cartridge. I have a $30 discount code if you buy it from catgenie online or you can get it for $270 ($250 for 3 or more) at petedge online (sorry, can't post URL's here), and if you live near Reno, NV or Woburn, MA, you can pick it up and save shipping.

  • Do you still have the code?

  • The discount code is F10299 and is good for $30 off the Tuxedo Package.

  • Her $30 coupon "F10299" doesn't work for the Tuxedo package, just the Tabby package. Instead, use "9871234", as it will get you $35 off the Tabby package. Then add in the hood, and you're still saving over the Tuxedo package.
