@Qzyxya My girlfriend found one at amazon last november, they was selling just a few. Works pretty well, it vectorizes every line without missing a detail.
@Berelore I think it was more of a quick demonstration of if it works. A stick figure would be too simple to be a good representation, and a masterful realistic sketch would be too time consuming without editing (in which some commentators would cry foul), so I think the picture was adequate.
OMG I want this so bad! I'm buying this for my 25th birthday, which is in two months XD I hope there will be one available by then though :( Seems Cintiq can't keep up with the demand XD
@jessewinchester : funny :) and i just got my Inkling, same feeling you do: THANK YOU WACOM :) the Cintiq 21 was and is already a real blessing, i think i will have so much fun with the Inkling <3
Is this pen pressure sensitive,? Can we have a brush feel or effect? Because this tool looks great for sketch or ball point pencil drawing , however I am wondering if we can have a pressure sensitive brush effect ?.Like what we see in Graphic novels or cartoons..Thank you
@obinkmarkey Hi Markey! I think the difference between the Inkling and a scanner is the Inkling creates digital layers (for the software) and the main device which you put on top of a paper enables it. Also, the pen and the device has like a wireless connection to each other so when you link the USB cord to the USB port and open the software for Inkling you can edit the lines or whatsoever. Hope it helps! :)
I just like it..it's liberating and if I have to fix something i CAN wait until I get home or something, cuz they are just sketches that I can fix, imagine if it DIDNT. this just feels right, any paper and anywhere you go doesnt take much space. Just saying the truth cuz I go out a lot and always have a small drawing pad with me :D
ok as a pen and ink artist reading some of these people you have to remember this. u cna use a pencel to make a rough draft of ur art then use the inking to do the inking on it. from there any tuch ups u need u can to on the pc. if u going to make a really great inking for a comic this is a great way to make it look like its done in ink and it would be fast also. i use wacom to draw but there no sub for the feel on a ink pen and watching it come to life on my paper.
Ink version..dude imagine if it was like a mech pencil style tablet that stored your information. Especially if it had different sizes like .05 *best size* or .07 etc, or erasable
As much as I love Wacom I AM NOT feeling this vector scanner (ahem)...I mean product at all. I'm so glad that I now have the crème de la crème of digital painting tablets, the Cintiq 24HD. Why bother with anything else?
@MrNckissfan see it this way..u want to draw so bad or have an amazing idea while ur out and have to wait a long time just to get home, then the idea goes byebye xD
@Embriel8 Maximum paper size: A4 paper 8.27” x 11.69 inches (210 x 297 mm) Inkling can be used on larger paper sizes but will only record a drawing area of this size. Inkling will not record strokes made within 0.8 inches (2 cm) of the receiver.
Does anyone know if you can draw using inkling with it appearing on screen in real time? Or does it have to be unplugged for the drawing, and then plugged in. I.E. can I use it to edit documents once they are uploaded to illustrator or photoshop?
it's a cracking idea, I think, hope it works well, I don't even do that much illustration and it excites me. I would use it just to log my ideas, its also cool for just showing your ideas to people electronically. Could potentially save me a lot of time.
Gee, I wonder when someone is going to do some nice drawings when testing these new art tools, what a mess of sketch, there is no way you can fix those vector lines position later.
@jessewinchester Yeah, imagine you wanna draw outside your home or work. Its so easy to take your CintiQ 21 in a nice cozy forest, find a plug for it and start drawing.
Oh yeah, scan what I did on paper, sure...Scanning is always so neat to work with afterwards in AI. I love raster drawing.
Really, this is liberating. I can draw whenever I want, wherever I want. and if I make mistakes on my drawings, I can fix the curves.
As someone who's been drawing on Tablet PCs for 6 years, this looks really limiting and frustrating. Fixing things later on the computer would drive me up the wall. I want to fix it NOW!
@Shogmaster I've been using a tablet for 6 years also and I cant wait to have my hands on this! This is like the Cintiq for poor people =D also i find myself making more correction when using a tablet than using a paper/pen... maybe thats me tho ^^ DO WANT!
Cintiq for poor people is called used Cintiq. $200~400 for PL500 on Ebay. Perfectly usable. More so than 12WX because it's not so cramped in size.
And if you are not allergic to Windows, you can have a have good Wacom Penabled Tablet PC (Core 2 Duo, 2GB+ RAM) for less than $200 on Ebay! I set up a Fujitsu T4215 for a friend last week. Total cost from Ebay = $170.
@Rifton0 With the release of the ipad I think it will be very soon before there is a truly portable version of the Cintiq. Not that apple has anything to do with cintiq technology. But Wacom must realize that a truly mobile cintiq is on everyone's minds and it would sell like hotcakes. I know I would buy one the minute it hits the shelves.
@undeadnightorc yeah, I see what you mean.It would be awesome. But since Wacom strives for quality products, seeing one soon is unimaginable(to me). They just refreshed their Bamboo lineup,I feel the Intuos lineup is going to get one soon, prolly start of next year somewhere, and they added a CintiQ 24".
What capabilities would a lets say 10" CintiQ have then?
@Rifton0 I see what you mean in regards to the OS thing. If Wacom can't 't come up with an ipad/portable version of their cintiq, I have a feeling Apple might steal that market in a few years by inventing their own version since they are already very close to achieving that level of technology. You can already use a Bamboo app on the ipad (albeit it isn't as powerful as using a cintiq or intuos). The foundation is there, they just have to improve upon it.
C'est très pratique quand on préfère dessiner sur du papier plutôt que sur une tablette graphique ou autre. C'est pratique aussi pour les personnes qui préfèrent dessiner sur du papier, scanner et coloriser, le rendu est plus propre. J'aime beaucoup!
I don't like how it used a ball-pen to draw, they are very useless and the result less than impressive. I like the approach, but, I think they should have improved the wacon further, so it acts like a pencil, not how it is today.
Before this: I can draw really well!

Many questions: first, can you erase in the paper??? i mean, what if you fuck up in the middle and wanna correct a trace???
Can you change colors for the "scan" to take them as different traces????

@undeadnightorc I don't think so... Cintiq isn't a computer. Its just a pen sensitive tablet with screen. I think its wrong to compare both.
Wacom doesn't have an OS. So to be able to make sth like that, they'd have to make a new OS, use WM/android or iOS.
I just can't see it coming. Wacom always relies on your computer...
