Hey I do competetive cheer leading and I am a master at standing tucks so what I would say to not throw your head back and then try to set higher do your head is not so close to the ground and you are really good so I would say try out for some cheerleading group or tumbling classes

What you need to do is set more. Pull up, then draw your knees to your chest quickly for rotation. It's really jumping straight up then flipping right now you're just trying to jump at a diagonal.
i've been in gymnastics for ten years just make sure too set bye throwing you arms and jumping straight up then rotating. also try to find somthing on a shelf on the wall and WATCH IT THE WHOLE TIME! otherwise your tuckinng really well!

see how far back you are traveling? that is because you take off with your head snapped way back. try looking at something as you go up on your back tuck. maybe a calendar or clock on the wall. At my gymnastics place, there is a mural on the wall of people doing gymnastics and I look at one of the girls on the beam as I go up. If someone was standing a few feet away and they waved to you as you did it, you should notice :D
hon we bout the same age so ive got some advise ok so you want to tuck in your back in the air with the sides of you body curled as you could be doing a cannon ball in a pool.then when you go to land,quickly undo it by forcing your legs down.keep trien it on a spot like a bed.couch,or soft,thick carpet and then you will have it.
just some tips: do focus now on going over in the air just focus on going up then over cause then you will have more than enought room to land and try sooooo hard to push your self up cause if you try to push your self over its more of a posiblility to hurt you kneed, heals, and ankles and if you realy good you will be able to do 2-3 in the ari just like me :)
dont let your arms fall to reach the ground. and stretch back with yiur arms a little more. you'll get more height and you will land cleaner. good luck :]

If you are still having trouble with it think about kicking your knee's strain in to your chest it will rotate you quicker and make sure you keep your eyes open and looking for a spot on the horizon line when you come back down to land. Pop Hard on the landing.

I like just learned how to do a back tuck... okay, and one os the things I REALLY needed to work on, was tucking before flipping and to stop pushing your head back before you tuck, apparently, it can can really hurt you if you land like that. Anyway, I went to Woodward West gymnastics camp and thats what the coach told me...
heres a tip for a back tuck you need to look straight ahead and make sure your hands are at your ears thens step up onto your toes then jump back but make sure you have your hands on your knees so that you dont have to put your hands down try try again try this and you never know it could work becuase I tryed it and it worked but keep up the good work

Try doing a back off a folded cheese mat or panel mat. Thats what I did in High School Camp Gymnastics last summer. It's a lot of fun to do.
Or you can do a back off your couch, but add a panel mat (or some kind of mat) under incase you fall. Try a back off something really helps me land and get my form correctly.

you need someone 2 grab a side of your shirt and the try to do your back tuck thats how i do mine

Try doing a back off a folded cheese mat or panel mat. Thats what I did in High School Camp Gymnastics last summer. It's a lot of fun to do.
Or you can do a back off your couch, but add a panel mat (or some kind of mat) under incase you fall. Try a back off something really helps me land and get my form correctly.

i would try 2 HOLD YOUR LEGS TOGETHER MORE CAUSE WHEN your in the air cause thats makes u go around faster ans makes u land more neatly!!!!! hope that helps!!!!!!!

but i could suggest doing a round off backtuck or a roundoff backhand spring back tuck,it makes it much easier because you get alotta momentem and the spring kills sum of it, helping you land =)

oh...yeah a cheerleader on my team broke her arm doing it with out a spot... if you go to a gymnastics place, try doing it by ur self there, so their there just in case, and you have mats haha

i need tips too!! i just cant land it!!!! i will post a vid soon of our backtucks!!! At my gym first i do some on the tumble track and then sim on the floor. i sometimes get it...
