Are you sure there's no way to palm with a nearly open hand? I've seen magic sites that claim if your fingers are culred, you're doing it wrong.

He is using the correct muscles for classic palm. The curling of his fingers seems to be voluntary-- to give his hand a more natural look.

But you are correct. With a good classic palm, the hand looks quite open and relaxed. In my experience, it requires a good deal of muscle to palm without having your thumb curled inward.
