Love love love this keyboard. It has better, more expressive piano sounds than instruments costing twice as much (sustain is amazing). Composing is so much easier with a beautiful piano sound. Lots of other great voices, too, though there are some duds (brass and strings are crummy).
The piano feel is pretty convincing too, though the action is even a bit on the heavy side and does not vary across the keyboard. Little LCD interface is the only really annoying thing. Highly recommended!
i have a yamaha s90es and i like it but i have a question. when you turn on the piano it is in multi mode and on the screen it says wide river. how can i change the setting so when i turn on the piano it appers in voice mode.
Other sounds are great too...Depends on your own capability to edit and set up...We have the machine on stage for years and use it for ust about everything. Even dance with raw, dirty, filtered sounds...Check our youtube: it's a live recording, no backing tracks and all synth sounds come from the S90ES...
@Josephandalice however much the stick holds ex: 8gigs then you can have 8 gigs of midi files on there. I work with a 2 gig because midi files are usually about a tenth of a meg or just about 100 kb.
why always the piano players are so soft and gayish?... Look at the guitar players, they're badass... but keyboards players?...nah...really gay.......XD
I wanted to get teh new s90xs but i keep reading the old oiani in the es is better?? is this true? I want it mainly for piano and i have a motif rack so do i need the xs?
why do u guys think this is better than the 90xs? details are appreciated. The Motif XS is sweet and i kinda liked the XS piano better than the ES. When the 90xs came out i was super pumped, but i've read from a few sources that people prefer the ES. why so.
@Ginoegiuliano Why is the S90ES better than the S90XS? If any thing, you would have to base your argument on the user interface difference between the 2. Other than that, I can't see why the S90ES is better than the S90XS since the XS has almost everything from the Motif XS, except the sequencer offcourse, which I feel CUbase AI4 makes up for, and so far the motif XS is the best keyboard on the market. So please explain a bit more.
This the mother of motif.... its just the old version comparing the motif and the s90 es its like the same just if u got good ears you'll hear the modulation in it...motif is just compressed or should i say better eq or voice setting in there... but trust me its great.... close your eyes and its like playing the motif xs...
this keyboard has it all its just the old(like the mother of the motif) the motif is just like compressed or better eq sounded... trust me on this it has everything (the mother of motif and yamaha...
Great vid, but he's WRONG about what he said regarding where the Mega Voice tech comes from. It DOESN'T come from the Motif ES. I don't know if Yamaha tells their reps to skip over the truth about where mega voices are from, but they're NOT from Yammies synth line. Mega Voices were introduced with the original Yamaha Tyros (One of Yamaha's Pro Arranger Keyboards). Yamaha carried this this tech over to the Motif line from the arranger line (as well as other PSR voices too) and changed the names.
s90 es is for people who want cool professional instrument but they dont whant to give a lot of money for a keyboard. i would never give more then 2000$ for a keyboard (if im not a pro)
The song is called Summerdance or so, it his. Hes been my teacher for years so i know him and love him^^ would like to start lessons again...As far as i know, you wont find summerdance anywhere on the web....shit happens.
Does anyone know if they are going to make an S90XS. i am thinking about buying this board but i feel the newer generation of this ax is right around the corner.does any one have any facts?
You can easly buy this s90 digital piano...if u want some motif buy yamaha motif RACK,and if u combine this, it`s better than Yamaha Motif Xs8, belive me,and use cubase program or fruityloops...
i was messin around witht this keyboard at school. omg it is very cool. great guitar and synth sounds. Fun to play. highly recomended piano. i also played the schools korg trinton extreame, and this is much better,
Yes better..It's all the same or equal quality/amount of sounds with a much better piano. Only Synthology Ivory comes close to this piano sound. I've listened to every digital/hardware piano that is halfway realistic and those two are the best. Other buy a Kurzwiel, Yamaha or some Borsendorfer depending on your favorite sound. I like a worn in Yamaha C7. Peace, Ahngoe Adam
The best thing is that YAMAHA are 100% compatible with STEINBERG software products ! So if you ever need( because that one have a lot of sounds )you can plug it to Steinberg HYPERSONIC VST-i, it also have those "slide sound" tricks with acoustic guitar. Domo arigato gozaimasu Yamaha :DD
I just traded in my MO8 for the S90 ES. The S90 is much more professional. It is way better as a performance stage piano. It doesnt have the built in sequencer...but thats what a computer is for.
Es bien sencillo: este es un teclado de live, con un sintetizador recortado y sin secuenciador de serie, pero con mas samples acusticos y teclas contrapesadas. el MO8 es mas de estudio ;)
Who can send me the style (or as a multipad) Jens is using at 2:52min while he is playing the megavoice guitar solo for Yamaha Tyros (1)? I don't have anything similar on my Tyros, but i like it, so who can help me? Send me a PM. Thanks a lot!
They aren't exactly comparable. The S-series are aimed at pianists and peformers while the MO6 and 8 are designed with the needs of electronic musicians and studio production in mind. It depends on what you need, really.

Would like to play 2 voices WITHOUT overwriting any presets. I have spent HOURS and HOURS with this keyboard and I am EXTREMELY frustrated.
