as a grappler myself, the only thing I would have done different is stayed in the center of the ring. the ropes are NOT your friend!! if you need them then you suck. as for the "knock - out" the UFC is using similar rules now. if the ref makes the call that one of them lost consciousness at any point then it is a knock-out. So no one was robbed. just a learning experience for the grappler.
