    6: You think fiberglass is R 2.2/inch and thats it....lol

    7: You can't "dense pak" an attic, true on that one! Oh, but you can install it at higher density and achieve higher R/inch.

  • Oh, man have I had some good laughs reading ya'lls arguing. There's a good portion from these two videos that seem to have been lost where i also compare the two insulations under a flame. I take a lighter and attempt to burn both materials. The fiberglass shrunk away from the flame (no smoke), while although chemically flame retarded, the cellulose smoldered and smoked. That's wierd. Smoldering paper? Have fun with that one. Merry christmas, fellas.

  • We need people like you to spread the word about the CON called rebates, or WAP. Maybe when Austin Energy gets to @20c/kwh people will start to realize, OH GEE, THAT MONEY COMES FROM OUR ELECTRIC BILL, IT'S NOT FROM THIN AIR LIKE WE THOUGHT! Worst part about Austin's rebate program, only the rich use it, and only a few "buddy" contractors do most of the work. Gubment needs to get away from this industry. But I predict the opposite. I have talked hundreds of customers out of HPwES. Don't run!

  • Hey guys, I appreciate your comments on my video. I made this video in youtube to insert into my newsletters to my customers and referral base. I didnt know these videos would go public. My opinion comes from experience in installing both these products. I guess even a video isn't proof enough to some. I would never replace my attic insulation with cellulose. We don't offer "efficiency" service anymore because I don't believe turning a profit by counting on gov subsidies is true capitalism.

  • @savvyinspections1 You do realize you can offer effiency services with ZERO gubment? You can even produce a sub 5 year ROI for customers if you are good. We sell it as A: An investiment that will smoke any the bank offers you.(3%+) B If you are loking for increased comfort. C: Health issues (tighten the home/ducts) humidity D: Some people just want to be "green" saving kwh w/out ROI. It is tough in Austin, sorry you couldn't cut it w/out the gubment, most in the area do though.

  • price comparison is wrong, although im in nc. r-30 here with cell at 1,000 sq ft. 565.00. (with settling compensation)with glass at 1,000 sq ft. r-30 is 700.00

  • agreed cellulose is def needed to be installed correct, with water mixture because it is a settled blown depth this way, and u can get cheated easier with glass. and ur right half value lost 20 and below! 1000 sq here we do it for 460 and that is cheaper than average by a mile, and fiberglass isnt green

  • where did this guy get his info, screw his OPINION! ..state facts! he doesnt mention cost per bag, or manufacture! 780 to BUY the stuff! Here in ILL we INSTALL it for 625.00 per 1000 sq ft! and he's saying its 780 to BUY! BS...also why dont you talk about the FACT that blown glass IS 2.2 per inch NOT 2.8 and the fact it LOSES R value in temps below 20 degrees! and cellulose GOES UP!

    been doing this 23 yrs..had glass when i got my house took it out and put in cellulose and bills went DOWN!

  • @ivcruiser You are so full of shit moron. Dense pack fiberglass exceeds R4/inch. Cost here is near identical. Why didnt you just blow the celluose over the fiberglass? Either youre an idiot, or a liar. It would have packed the fiberglass which helps it perform in extremes/inch.

AND NO dense pac cellulose DOES NOT have more R value than R4 , look it up on the bags for crying out loud! a ladder rack and tool box doesnt make you a insulator, !

  • @ivcruiser Wow, I didn't realize how tough it is for some to read. The greater lb/ft3 the greater the R value. R-15 in 3.5" is at 2.3lbs/ft3 R-14 in 3.5" is at 1.8lbs/ft3, only maybe a dozen spec sheets to choose from to find this. I believe that should shut you the fuck up for a bit, better send a letter to every customer your ignorant ass has lied to. Fiberglass increases r/inch when compressed to higher densities. How many youtube posts are you going to have to delete after you learned this?

  • @HomeEnergyNow REALLY thats why BPI ( ever heard of that idiot?) REFUSES to have ANY compress glass used on ANY project! YOU F-O-A-M the cracks , windows etc . ANY TRUE PROFFESIONAL INSULATOR knows this. "compressed glas ' R vAlue goes up huh? WOW. how do you sleep at nite know the ppl you ripped off gave you thier hard earned money just to have you screw them over. FLUFFER FLUFFER FLUFFER.

  • @ivcruiser If you compress a 3.5" batt to 2.5", it loses overall r-value. It gains R-value/inch that has to be the third time now I have had to explain this to you. In, B.I.B.S which any good insulator would know, R-value is based on density, eg Insulsafe SP please google it before you make your self look worse. It wouldnt let me post the link to manufactureers website to make it easy for you so I posted the lb/ft3 and you STILL don't understand density. Density measured in lbs/ft3 <--easy

  • @ivcruiser There is no glue in B.I.B.S, how many years have you been insulating? Funny, our pella rep said we cant use any foam. Certainteed told us the same thing? Hmm? Did you see me mention BPI was a three day course for us? Hope you got a 100%! LOL You didn't even realize fiberglass R-value/inch increases with density. Have you deleted your comments that argue otherwise? Or do you need links?

Its NOT three days try 4 weeks. I knew by your post's you wernt really knowing what you were talking about with your diluted thinking that you STILL have, if you took a piece of R 19 and wadded it up the R value would increase? afraid not, no wonder God put you in TEX-ASS.

  • @ivcruiser What density do you think the bottom of 22" of insulation is? It compresses itself from it's own weight immediately, it gets progressively more expensive because of this compression, but provides avg. r-2.8/inch open blow, vs. avg. r-2.3/inch of adding just R-13 open blow(4.5"). The bottom 4.5" of the 22" will be @3.4/inch or R-15, vs 4.5" open blow by itself R-13. Greater Rvalue w/in 4.5" Vaulted ceilings it can be compressed doing B.I.B.S. going to R-4/inch.

  • @ivcruiser 22" is R-60, how long have you been insulating? You idiot. Please tell us why less depth is better? We have mostly ducts in the attics here, so having deeper insulation to cover them is an advantage, I mentioned earlier thermal bridging. So what possible advantage could there be with having the same R-value but not near as deep? I am starting to wonder if too much exposure to boric acid causes retardation.

  • @ivcruiser It isn't hard to tell you have been an insulator for 23 years. Holding the end of a hose may be all your good for by the sound of it. How did you do research on me in Austin? I have multiple locations, one is near Austin. And you don't even know what businesses I am in. Why do you lie? I have a feeling I am talking to the 8 year old kid of an insulator or something. I really don't have to say much you pretty much cover it.

  • @HomeEnergyNow Illinois, Zone 5 Ceiling= R38 to R60 DOE recommendations for Illinois idiot. 23 Years of insulating and a dude from TX has to tell you what R-values are recommended for your state. btw Cathedral R30 to R38 R30 to R60, since you don't know how to do BIBS, how do you insulate cathedrals.......fiberglass batts? lol

  • @ivcruiser A: If you talk to most window manufacturers they void warranty w/ANY foam, this includes "window and door". B: I gave you a license number earlier, you would have recognized it, being it is BPI, had you actually had BPI licensing. It was a 3 day class.....have you used REMrate?Noticed that the btu calculators do not show savings from material type? Just R-value of each installed product. Pick apart wall batt? Calculate those savings!LOL Doubling the R in my walls would save @14$/year.

  • @ivcruiser If you do make it to a fiberglass manufactucturers website to find out after all those years of insulating that you have been wrong about increased R/inch with density, you should notice the R-60 depth requirements INSTALLED: 22" SETTLED: 22" Funny how you bring up settling since cellulose is the only product with a history of it! Illinois is not humid like Austin, maybe you arent in a position to debate performance in moist environments until you come here and ball up a handfull?
