I remember the very first time I saw this...........unfortunately, it was just my luck to have taken a drink of my beverage, just as this scene was playing out, and.......well, as you might have guessed, I actually sprayed the drink all over myself with a tremendous laugh; a completely spontaneous, and unrehearsed "spit take"........just like on tv and in the movies, except that this one was 'real' !!!! Random means picking any old thing for no good reason. This is very purposeful. Only a good, compliant boy who took everything mommy said as gospel would think running with scissors - something every parent warns against - was reckless, wild and dangerous. It makes ironclad the very point he's trying to disprove.

well no... the writer of the episode wrote that Frasier would pick up the prop in order use the comical device of showing how he is dangerous by using the old cliche "don't run with scissors" in order to convey to the audience this moment is witty and clever
