I can believe the statistic of atheist being most discriminated against. Maybe though it is because I go to a catholic high school and I am one of three atheist there. 3/1200 about .025% of the school population. :)

I completely agree with you. I stared in disbelief through most of the CNN clips. I was raised Catholic and am still a spiritual person but to be honest I'd ashamed of being a Christian if I were to be associated with people who thing like these broadcasters. I like having open debates about my beliefs but I'm not going to tell someone that if they don't believe in God that they are a weak person. Ignorance astounds me sometimes.

Personally Atheism is just as silly as believing in any 'propper' religion.
They're both making the same judgement, just in opposite. Theism being 'there is', Atheism being 'there isn't'. Personally, I'm Agnostic: 'there might be'.
I'm going to withold judgement until someone can prove atheism or theism.
A common misconception is that atheists believe in the absolute, unequivical fact of the non-existance of God (Or gods or Goddesses or whathaveyou).
Most Athiests simply believe that proof of the existence of God is fundementally lacking... In the same way that proof of Bigfoot, UFOs, ESP, Unicorns, Faeries, Loch Ness and Compassionate Conservatives is lacking (Er... ignore that political barb).

The Athiest stance is all other stances, including god does not exist, god *might* exist but we lack conclusive evidence, or just that Theists claim is groundless.
So anyone who believes anything OTHER than "Yes, there is a god" is an athesit. Even "Maybe" or "there might be" or "I'm not sure".
There is one exception. If you believe there is absolutely no way for anyone to *ever* know whether a god exists or not, you are agnostic.
this is what really bothers me about the world. Discrimination over something as simple as a belief. Atheism is indeed the largest movement in America and we are gaining more to our numbers than Christianity. Christian Dominionist ideology is very dangerous and undermines true secular America. George Washington even said in the Treaty of Tripoly that America was in no way founded on the Christian religion.

i think you are totally right about that. i go to school (middle school) and some on asked me a question as to what religon i am. i said i am not a religon. the asked me if i belive in god and i said no. Now every day they give me shit about it and yell at me for it! if u have some other belive then thats fine with me just don't try to force it on me, or yell at me for my belife. btw i keep mixing up the spelling for belive and belifes when ever i type lol!

I can believe the statistic of atheist being most discriminated against. Maybe though it is because I go to a catholic high school and I am one of three atheist there. 3/1200 about .025% of the school population. :)

I completely agree with you. I stared in disbelief through most of the CNN clips. I was raised Catholic and am still a spiritual person but to be honest I'd ashamed of being a Christian if I were to be associated with people who thing like these broadcasters. I like having open debates about my beliefs but I'm not going to tell someone that if they don't believe in God that they are a weak person. Ignorance astounds me sometimes.

Personally Atheism is just as silly as believing in any 'propper' religion.
They're both making the same judgement, just in opposite. Theism being 'there is', Atheism being 'there isn't'. Personally, I'm Agnostic: 'there might be'.

A common misconception is that atheists believe in the absolute, unequivical fact of the non-existance of God (Or gods or Goddesses or whathaveyou).
Most Athiests simply believe that proof of the existence of God is fundementally lacking... In the same way that proof of Bigfoot, UFOs, ESP, Unicorns, Faeries, Loch Ness and Compassionate Conservatives is lacking (Er... ignore that political barb).
By your own admittance, you don't believe there is proof of God. You, my good sir, are an Atheist

The theist stance is that a god exists.
The Athiest stance is all other stances, including god does not exist, god *might* exist but we lack conclusive evidence, or just that Theists claim is groundless.
So anyone who believes anything OTHER than "Yes, there is a god" is an athesit. Even "Maybe" or "there might be" or "I'm not sure".
There is one exception. If you believe there is absolutely no way for anyone to *ever* know whether a god exists or not, you are agnostic.

this is what really bothers me about the world. Discrimination over something as simple as a belief. It truly upsets me that they even had the audacity to say all those things on national television and people still respect them. I, for one, am a tolerant person and have respect for people regardless of their beliefs. so i wonder, why cant they do the same.

However, I still hold to atheism or agnosticism as more credible; the evidence and arguments for the existence of a supernatural god or gods is not compelling.
