rigged100 you've obviously never owned/driven a range rover.... and 350HP won't get you out of there either with those tyres.... sounds to me like you have never driven in mud! Putting your foot down will just use more fuel and get you nowhere.
hey sunshine, whilst those things are shit, most unreliable make of 4wd ever, the key to mud, it power, you have like 350hp under the bonnet, give it beans!! it would have pulled out even with crap tyres!
If the range wasnt so heavy, it would do that much easier. Range is maybe one of heaviest 4x4's and that makes it always worse than its competitors on soft terrains like this. :)
Keep the DSC ON if you are driving across a muddy field (it will stup you doing a 360 and getting into trouble)
BUT
Turn the DSC off if you feel that you are starting to slow down, or if you get stuck, it will sap the momentum. Or if you are starting from a stop.
Either way, you should use very gentle throttle application to try and get moving as slowly as possible and then apply more power when you are already moving. Treat slippery mud as you would snow, high gears etc.
yes the ranger has sporty tyres on it because it would totally comprimise the ride otherwise and like the guy said it is the first time its been off road. I have discovery 3 and know for a fact that with the proper tyres on it, they are just the business.
im goin 2 take a guess that it has street tires on!!! nd like the thing says they dont kno what there at!!! looks like 2 me that it was`n goin hard enough nd are afraid 2 use there right foot!!!
I have a degree in mechanical engineering, no matter the driveline or traction distribution system, sometimes a vehicle's tyres will simply not have enough grip, as in this case.
traction control and low box arnt on there -__-, you can tell because the wheels are spinning....

Use 2nd or 3rd gear. It reduces the power and the wheels won't spin so much!

Power is not what gets you moving off road, power is nothing without grip and control.

again watch the wheels, they slow down, the dsc thinks the suv is sliding and applies the brakes,it would have worked better if they turned it off!!

The point is: this car sucks. Land Rover is the worst off road car you can ever buy.

Even for this Range Rover, there are good tires allowing traction. You dond't go with your slick street tires into the rough.

ppl who have range rovers nowadays are just to rich to know anything like driving for example :P

ha .. talk about range rover being # 1 ... get a hummer and use it right unlike the topgear ppl

ha, u cant drive!
rangiemadharry 5 years ago
This is not what Land Rovers are famous for. A bit of muddy grass won't stop one. It mustn't be in the right terrain mode.
fastparrot 5 years ago
Muddy grass can be more slippy than ice, dont underestimate it.

especially when you're not on proper tires

i suspect you wernt driving it properly, probably going to slow
DiscoHSE 5 years ago
ur not in the proper off road mode. becuase if you were the traction control would kick in and slowly turn the wheel to get traction.
