@Greenmarine6 Not entirely true. The majority of parts are still US made. I live between places where major components are built. I have toured the factories so I know. The carburetors were made in Japan but all now have fuel injection. The frame, engine, trans, wheels are all US. the fenders and tanks are made in Tomahawk, WI.

I couldn't afford a Harley cruiser so I traded the Buell on Honda Fury and I'm takin it on holidays next week . I'm not after a brand mate . I'm after the best ride I can afford . Every bike is awesome guys , two wheels and an engine . I love em all .

A big factor in japanese parts being cheaper is because of the work force overseas.. they don't demand healthcare and pensions and unions and holiday & vacation pay like Americans do. If American workers had less demands and were more like overseas workers, our parts would cost less too. Japan's working class is comparable to the US working class in the 1950's.
Some people talk about the large engines, and I understand them perfectly, and I agree: A BIG ENGINE IS GOOD FOR TOURING, wears down verrrryy slow.
But Japanaese bikes have big engines too Want 1300/1500/1800? any size is available, the performance is out of HD's league and you can spend time enjoying your bike not rebuilding it or selling it when "it's done". You can get loud pipes on any bike, hell! even a Yamaha virago 250 makes a pretty nice sound, nevermind the 1100...
This is very true. You get more than 4 times the riding time out of an imported bike than a Harley because of reliability, and you also have money left over after buying your import for other things like gasoline to run it on.

I've spent hours reading compairisons and articles. Victory Vision beats the big HD touring bikes everytime. Check it out for yourselves. And as far as resale value. How can you compare a bike thats been out for three years and sold thousands, but you cant find any used ones for sale. Maybe more should be concerned with why there are unlimited used HDs. I always make my wife do the waving when she is with me, but give you daughter a wave from us as it is not intertional...at least not with the group I ride with. :)
it seems to me that a lot of Harley riders are too "cool" to wave at non-Harley riders. This leads me to believe that they ARE arrogant. Even my daughter has noticed, since she likes to wave at riders when she is on my bike. Harley riders either ignore you or just look and do nothing.

i drive a harley police special and where i live in Canada on the roads i come across bikes, but not a ton on a daily basis. I wave at all other bikes, i dont judge them based on what they are driving bikers are bikers. Its like snowmobiling you wave at all other riders on the trails no matter what the ride. or at least thats how i base it for me

The carburetors were made in Japan but all now have fuel injection. The frame, engine, trans, wheels are all US. the fenders and tanks are made in Tomahawk, WI.

And helps keep costs competitive. Some people who think that EVERYTHING should be made here don't realize how bad that would be. Everything would be insanely expensive. I couldn't afford a Harley cruiser so I traded the Buell on Honda Fury and I'm takin it on holidays next week . I'm not after a brand mate . I'm after the best ride I can afford . A big factor in japanese parts being cheaper is because of the work force overseas.. they don't demand healthcare and pensions and unions and holiday & vacation pay like Americans do. If American workers had less demands and were more like overseas workers, our parts would cost less too. Japan's working class is comparable to the US working class in the 1950's.

Some people talk about the large engines, and I understand them perfectly, and I agree: A BIG ENGINE IS GOOD FOR TOURING, wears down verrrryy slow.
But Japanaese bikes have big engines too Want 1300/1500/1800? any size is available, the performance is out of HD's league and you can spend time enjoying your bike not rebuilding it or selling it when "it's done". You can get loud pipes on any bike, hell! even a Yamaha virago 250 makes a pretty nice sound, nevermind the 1100...

I'm sorry to rain on anyone's parade, but: HARLEY's are NOT THE BEST. There was a time when HARLEY WAS THE BEST, as there was a time when Henry Ford built the best car. One of Ford's Employees was a man called TOYOTA. That man went back to Japan and built Toyota's.
Toyota's were built in HALF SPACE, HALF TIME and with A THIRD OF FORD'S DEFFECTS.
Mounting a big engine that wil wear down slow it's not enough anymore. Jap's know it and take in consideration. What is HD doing about it? NADA!

I've spent hours reading compairisons and articles. Victory Vision beats the big HD touring bikes everytime. Check it out for yourselves. And as far as resale value. How can you compare a bike thats been out for three years and sold thousands, but you cant find any used ones for sale. Maybe more should be concerned with why there are unlimited used HDs. Just a thought!!!

Me and a buddy were just chatting about this yesterday... On longer rides and sometimes local after about an hour on the road and waving at a few hundred folks you have to stop. I always make my wife do the waving when she is with me, but give you daughter a wave from us as it is not intertional...at least not with the group I ride with. :)

i drive a harley police special and where i live in Canada on the roads i come across bikes, but not a ton on a daily basis. I wave at all other bikes, i dont judge them based on what they are driving bikers are bikers. Its like snowmobiling you wave at all other riders on the trails no matter what the ride. or at least thats how i base it for me
