why did you stay and not leave out of couriosity ? no offence. i was in a hurricane in texas in 1998 during the 100 days of 100 degrees every day. i think it was charlie
Ike hit us here I Utah the other day. The next day I was on a train to the Olympics and we had turbulence, so I think it was IKE before it was fully formed
Well, I'm in Tomball, which is not more than a mile away from Houston. All we will get is some high wind, I've been out side in a almost category 3 tornado before and I'm not scared of this.
Exactly. I live in Katy 25 miles from houston and 80 miles from the coast... we got hammered. My neighborhood lies in ruin with 60 year old oaks shredded, garage doors sucked out and one guys wall collapsed. This thing was bad for a cat 2 storm.
good luck man. We went through Rita, couldn't get out because all the roads were clogged. I never want to go through something like that again. We now live in AZ. LOL. Praying for you all.
Sitting here in Bridge City, Texas (Orange County) waiting for evacuation. Can a Category 3 hurricane tear a brick house down? The eye is coming literally straight thru us.
If the eye is coming straight for you, then you are probably better off. The East side of the storm is usually the worst. During Hurricane Ivan we evacuated to Alabama (where the eye came to land) and our home was on the east side of the storm (Pensacola Beach Area) and the town was pretty much ravaged. Brick is probably better than the other possibilites, but I have seen it all. I am sure you will be fine! :0) Your family will be in many people's prayers. Best of luck!
may not take the house down but it is the roof that may come off because of the wind when it hits the walls of the house it pushes up and then the wind going over the top is pulling it up like a kite when you get it in a jet stream
hope all gos well for you I am in the path too in Louisiana we are on the east side and I live in the path that Rita took about 45 mil from lake Charles
Thank you so much Magna Carta. TCI native here in Florida. Most of my family are in Grand Turk and lost their homes or part of their roof. Thank you very much for the support and God bless. Lisa
We are on our way with aid,HMS Iron Duke will use her helicopters to do what she can in the mean time, she was sitting behind the storm ready to help as soon as it passed.
Thanks for the Vid, been through plenty of storms myself and Video doesn't convey the strength of the wind unless something is flying by! Hope the clean up goes well,I know it's gonna be a lot of work, really wish I could be there to help.
