  • I hunt and fish. Do you have a problem with that? Yes I harvest living animals and eat the meat. There is NOTHING wrong with hunting/fishing and eating the animal.

  • to do the documentary without killing would be more expensive because they have to fake the kill but yeah its the entertainment business ppl like to see it.

  • worry less about man vs wild where he kill a few animals but worry about the food industy where many are killed inhumanely.

  • umm ok? he ate them so its not cruel, if u wanna see real cruelty just look on youtube for a chinese raccoon skinning video, the poor things are awake. now thats cruel!

  • Damn treehuggers. It's a shame that botfly larvae didn't devour your brain.

  • They are prey and we are apex predators, predators who also hunt for sport. Yes it is entertaining to see Bear kill and eat a snake, or spider, or rabbit etc. Is it cruel, most of these animals provide food to some other animals including in some cases people. So no, it is not animal cruelty

  • i think the lady got a point,,, but still i like man vs wild, bear grylls is still awesome, but i like your videos too(naturebreak) specially the bot fly,, i think, man vs wild and nature break have a different caliber when it comes to wild, but yes i agree to the lady that man vs wild is cruelty to animals which infact an entertainment,

  • Incase the point wasn't made in any earlier comments, the argumentive side of the story is the animals being killed and eaten serve no immediate need for survival. Shows can simply discuss these topics without destroying wildlife, but to get more ratings, wildlife is destroyed. As a wildlife photographer, my work is used to encourage awareness, and as a result increase conservation efforts. And if you think destroying wildlife for the sake of anything isn't detrimental, look up Passenger Pigeons

  • you're stupid lady

  • Oh and by the way. The "Survival Expert" Bear Grylls broke the most important rule of survival in any climate....Stay dry. Because if you don't think it can get cold in the tropics at night; you are a bigger idiot then bear. Happy hypothermia everyone!

  • Ha ha all you stupid survival wannabe's. If you think watching Bear is educational, you are more out of touch then the so called liberal hippies that need to "get a grip". You will only get hurt trying mimic what bear grylls does. You can be a keyboard worrier all you want, but the reality is that this person is a fake and his survival "tips" are worthless.

@naturebreak keep up the good work

  • @andrewtheoD Have you ever been stranded in the woods? With your atv broken down on a hunting trip? I have...Bear Grylls tips are useful, even though most people would not be able to do the strenuous trip back to civilization they would be able to survive if they practiced some of the basic tips taught. So here Mr high and mighty behind my keyboard, go out in the woods for a week and survive. Tell me how it works, better yet make a video for us back here on Youtube. Good luck MATE!

  • i personally thought him killing the lizard was quite funny...

  • He was in the SAS and is a highly skilled survival expert. Are people really so stupid to assume that he's a fraud?

  • staged that is bs

  • i dont give a fuck wat any of u heartless dickheads think, u cannot, in any way, justify what he did to that goanna. that was truely a cruel act. the idiots who are defending bear, are the exact same idiots hes trying to entertain.

  • @naturebreak u r wrong girl

  • @tokay18 dude u r wrong. U haven't seen the full episode, that's why u r saying he killed been for cheese burger. fact is that bear grylls killed and ate the lizard. And this lady on YouTube is just showing that he killed for t.v entertainment.

  • with all the problems we have in the world your concern is 1 dead lizard killed for millions of peoples entertainment save it tree hugger i live in norther canada an i luuuuuuuuv poachin yup thats right killin for the sake of killin.....excellent pass time:P

  • Isnt it mostly america where hate is generated? In general? Just h-bomb yourself and stop bragging about how you a-bombed japanese civilians

  • Even bear grylls stays in a hotel after filming. I agree with the principles this person discusses. However if he was going to eat the lizard its ok to kill it, but not without perpose.

  • I'm reading a lot of comments and maybe I haven't made my point clear. I'm not criticizing Bear Grylls if he were hunting to survive. But HE'S NOT! This is a television show and he has a camera crew, etc, with him. Then at night he retires to a nice hotel. So, he's killing these animals only for the sake of television entertainment. It would be possible to tell people they could eat a lizard if they needed to without actually killing it on tv.

  • @NatureBreak look, theres a thing that you hippie librals dont understand. Hunting isnt a crime. And i would be a hypocrite if i didnt say that bear is fake. hes just an actor that probably goes back to his 60ft trailer and sips wine and eats caviar after he does somthing stupid like drink his own urine. Bottom line is its ok to hunt things if your gonna eat them

  • @NatureBreak Your so full of bullshit I can't believe it. Fuck you and fuck your ethical crap. He killed a fucking lizard, no one really gives a flying fuck other than you, there were probably 50 of the same lizard within a 1 mile radius. Shove your ethics up your ass, and stop preaching this absolute nature shit.

  • @NatureBreak he doesn't kill them, most deer and things are already left by the local farmer for him, but lizards and flies and things are mostly extremely common in the areas he is, so its not hurting the local population, plus Lizards and bugs are insects (common pests) not animals so really making a fuss about killing them (unless they are endangered) is quite pathetic and a waste of time ...

  • Bear Grylls is going to come to your house and make you drink his own piss.

  • @TheBernice I wouldn't be surprised

  • go live in the woods you hippie

  • I know what kind of lizard it is, it's a dead lizard.....if it came to you starving to death or killing that animal would you starve or eat that animal, this show is very educational for some people and we are at the top of the food chain and if it's killed to be eaten then I have no problem with it's the ones that kill lions and such just to get the trophy head and hide that I have a problem with......

  • In Man vs Wild, he's not hunting for recreation. He's hunting for survival. And Man vs Wild is not an animal show. It's an informative show about how to survive in an unfortunate situation of being lost. People don't watch it to learn about animals. And it's not like he killed it and left. He ate it, just like carnivores eat cows. Yet, a lot of people don't seem to think eating cows and pigs is animal cruelty.

  • @OhemgeeItsme97 He's killing it for entertainment. He's not really surviving in the wild. Its just a television show.

  • I think people like you are why we almost lost the war on terrorism....Man, you really need to get a grip. If you end up on your own in "nature" and have to survive. Your going to die, you wouldnt survive a week.

  • @koreeco87 What I'm saying is that he's killing animals for entertainment, not to survive. This is a television show. Not real survival. Of course, if you're really surviving in the wild you need to eat whatever you can.

  • @NatureBreak Here, take your camera and go out into the woods for 7days and survive with out killing anything. Grant it you will live but not very well. Test your knowledge what is edible in your woods. Remember this is for as you say "entertainment". So good luck, Cause I dont think you would survive very well.

  • @koreeco87 you got that right whhhhaaaat a pussyyyyyyy i hope she dies buy gettin rhino fucked up her super tight butt hole

  • You'd hate the outdoor channel, and probably the concept of hunting, I'm against aimless animal cruelty, but that seems like the best way to kill the lizard with what he had, so he had to do what he had to do, and honestly that wasn't too bad, in China there's a meal where they eat a live donkey, make a video about that.

  • honestly who gives a shit its not like a pet its in the wild, i would have loved to done that myself :)

  • Unfortunately animals were not put here for us to live in complete harmony with.

Last time I checked a lot of animals could give a shit less that we exist.

You want to complain about animal cruelty? Go fucking live with a bear, lion, tiger, and WILD FUCKING animal and you will see, they don't fucking care.

They will gladly rip you to fucking SHREDS.

    Stop complaining.

    Go eat some lettuce.

  • oh my fucking killing an animal nooooo were all going to hell. fucking liberal pussies

  • the stupidest thing i have seen was bear grills killing a seal to make a wetsuit that didnt fit

  • go hug a tree for christs sake

  • He would kill Timber Rattlesnakes for his survival in the Appalachians I am sure. He should stay the hell home.

  • I have never seen that clip but seen plenty of his wasteful killings for the sake of his little TV show. no educational value and stuff like this is plain discusting. Sure its one thing if you ae actually stranded in a wild place and STARVING to kill a monitor and eat it, but actually getting your hands on one in a real situation is ver difficult. He likely left after that shot and went to get some fucking cheeseburgers god that is shit.

  • How can you compare this to Gladiator fights? If you dont like the show, DONT WATCH IT!

  • What do people think about the animal hunt & kill sequences in the BBC's recent Human Planet series ? These weren't filmed-as-they-happened - what ethical price do we pay to see things from all those extraordinary angles. It was all way too much stylish photography and not enough honest film-making for my taste.

  • I have refused assignments on wildlife documentaries in the past when it's involved filming animals in captivity and passing them off as in the wild but it's common practice even in the 'pure' wildlife programmes.

My independent not-for-tv FILM about wildlife where I live and it has no captive, trained or handled animals in it.

It is ethically easily the best film of it's kind. TV is no longer the best place to find the best documentaries any more.

  • Fuck this shit ppl get murdered everday and no one cares

  • I hate hippies.

  • fuck u bitch

  • You worked in Discovery Channel? :O cool

  • Yes i do agree that those animals that are killed by bear dont deserve it. But the purpose of killing the animal is to actually educate on how to kill it, and not for entertainment, survivorman is the "Take just enough to keep going" and Man V.s. Wild is " Take as much as possible" and in survivorman i remember that he killed a rattle snake in a swamp, i forgot what episode its from but thats about the same that bear does, only thing is he wants to keep at top condition so he kills a bit more.

  • he killed it mainly for survival and teaches ppl how to survive in the area.

  • Boohoo, really.

  • yeah you could say whats wrong with him saying to the camera, "to kill it for food i would use blunt force to the head" done. no Lizard need die, i mean Bear and the crew were prolly munchin on sum takeaway that night in their hotel. i mean this is stuff for a survival situation and he aint in one their. seemed unnecasary for him to kill it. then again ive seen an episode where bear puts a tube up his ass to take on water. just say how you do it bear, we believe anything u say u would do now :P

  • Thats Disgusting!!! Ive been saying this for sometime, killing an animal anyway is wrong, but for entertainment is absolutely horrendous! Sick selfish human beings tearing up the planet and killing everything in their path.....karma is all ive got to say!

  • AND WHO CARES ABOUT WHAT FUKIN MONITOR LIZZARD IT IS! Its a survivor show, if you want to learn something about animals go to animal planet. if you dont have it then buy the channel or suck it up and move on, shit

  • oh my god, you guys are so freakin sensitive shit. If you were out there you wouldnt be like, oh thats so bad im gunna starve or risk cutting the shit outa my mouth with some plant i dont know about. Suck it up and kill the animal shit. Oh he's so cruel, then dont watch the fucking show. And ya he may have a camera crew with him but he's more interesting then survivor man, thats my opinion. But seriously, quit being so god dam sensitive and change the fuking channel and not rant about it on utub

  • i never thought about this but you make a good argument

  • Concern over molesting or 'annoying' animals in the wild is a bit of oversensitivity to nature. Humans seem to over sympathize with it because when it happens to us, we end up scarred for life. Animals don't suffer our psychosis. An hour later and the incident is forgotten. Killing them is something different. My grandfather would take me out to shoot and hunt, and often we had plenty of food in our freezer. Why? Because teaching the skill has as much value to humans as eating the animal does.

  • On the other hand i do agree that there should be some conversationalist message along with the do not try at home warning. Regardless, to your main point i dont think that harassment of animals by filmmakers is a concern. Most animals dont give a damn about humans presence in the wild. Do i think that handling animals causes them stress, Yes i do animals aren't really effected by post traumatic stress disorder like we are. I also like survivorman better

  • First off i don't think this monitor lizard is anywhere near endangered or threatened levels. Second , its a survival show and you should assume that it will evolve visually depicting how to catch and kill a animal whether its fish, rabbit, lizard ect(i now know how to kill a lizard). Third, although brutal, he did kill it in the most humane way he could with what he had. Forth, its television, everything you see on it IS FOR YOUR ENTERTAINMENT. On the other hand.......count

  • Did he eat the lizard? If no, you win. If yes, then your argument is moot. That is like saying the cooking portions of Martha Stewart's shows are cruelty to animals. Animals = food. If not for humans, for other animals.

  • In principle, the filming (and by extention disturbance) of wild animals is not ideal. In practice, however, it is essential to protecting them. The masses were not willing to take a stand against slavery until they saw images of people being tortured, nor were they willing to send food and money to far-off places they'd never heard of until they saw what it looked like when children starved to death. Similarly, more endangered species will die unless people see and feel familiar with them.

  • hahahahahahahahahaha all you fuckin do gooders, we are top of the food chain end of story,I dont agree with killing puppys or being cruel but killing to eat yes.Go take up the argument with Ronald McDonald he is like the Ted Bundy to Animals haha

  • Yes because filming them is totally causing harm, fucking christ this takes PETA to a whole new level.

  • then tell me if u were stuck on an island what would u eat?

  • Ok wow this is ridiculous Bear Grylls killed it but the diference here is that he actually uses every resource from the animals he kills. He doesnt just kill for entertainment he kills it to show you what to do if you are in an emergency situation. No wonder you have only 2,000 views go pick worms out of your head again and shut up.

  • First you compared man vs. wild to dog fighting I find offense to that statement because they are nothing alike. Also he killed that animal to show YOU how to end an it's life in the wilderness as quickly as possible so you can survive and eat that animal or defend yourself from that animal. Also the most thing thats so off about this your statement "He kills animals for the sake of entertainment" Like 10% of the show is about facing animals the rest is about surviving in wilderness. :D

  • wow, you know nothing about this show, face it! humans need animals too survive!

  • @thecardcollector96 really? cause as far as i'm aware im surviving pretty well without them or their products, what a stupid thing for you to say, love.

  • @RachaelFlowers good for you

  • Comment removed

  • I would seriously shoot that sick fraud Bitch Grylls in the head for what he did to the monitor, I love them and this was painful to watch indeed ;(

  • All killing is for entertainment, the only reason to eat meat in a modern society is for taste, as there are widely available simple alternatives. Go vegan or shut the fuck up.

  • your just jealous of his awesome survivor skills! lol

  • Bear Grylls in man vs wild may not be "real" but it does what it sets out to do. It shows you how to survive in the wild. If that means catching and killing animals then i do not have a problem with it. Its not like he sat there and ripped its legs off. He made the animals death fast and painless. There are many other ways he could have killed it but he went with the most human one. Like i said he shows you how to survive and that is what you should take away from the show.

  • bear grylls is freaking boss. the fact that you compared killing a lizard to gladiators (humans!) is completely ridiculous. perhaps i would be more upset if he were killing something endangered like a panda or if he killed them my slowly smothering them to death but oh well. as for survivor man yea he knows what he's doing but also who the hell wants to watch a old canadian guy talk to himself for an hour doing nothing.

  • oh get fuckd thats life oh and man vs wild is the best show oh and water monters u will find every were that the show wos shot so stop crying about it

  • pffff this man suck !

he have to don't meet me ,man vs man,he got sens the diference

  • and hold up sure he kills the animals but he eats them afterwards they way he killed it looked very cruel i know but it is infact humain the first know on the tree knocked it out and the second killed it this is coming from a reptile lover and keeper

this is in no way worse than what happens everyday in all the slaughterhouses all over the world exept here you see it and then its abit to mutch for you isnt it

  • @maximiliaan1995 but the purpose of this killing wasn't for necessity or food, it was for entertainment. that's where I have the real problem.

  • @NatureBreak we don't necessary need to eat that much meat to survive and more often do so just for taste so where do we draw the line?

  • @maximiliaan1995

He doesn't even eat most of his kills, he tosses them away or they were killed simply for him to pretend to scavenge. He's a fraud and I wish that there would be a mistake in his safety gear and is no longer able to do this anymore..

  • how the fuck dyou know that the lizard was placed there

  • Thank you SO much for drawing attention to this, NatureBreak. The things Bear gets away with for entertainment are horrible horrible things. Nothing is learned through Bear biting or clubbing live animals. It's horrible. Thank you!

  • What did it for me was when Grylls bit the head off of a garter snake, and I think he swallowed the body or something.........pure disgusting. Never watched the show again. The guy's a real phony. And an evil idiot. His camera team does more work than he does.

  • Man vs. Wild is bullshit its just a show for entertainment, you will learn maybe 2-3 useful things, but the other 250 careless things he teaches you are not worth watching this show for survival purpose. Watch Survivorman instead. No it is not cruelty ... maybe you only know nature through some overcrowded national park trails, etc. But when you are stranded alone in the wild you dont ask the ''is it cruel'' question and you eat what you can find. If you cant stand it, dont watch it.

  • @stefihuntalova i agree, survivorman is a much better show. he actually is surviving in the wild and even filming everything himself. plus, his survival tactics are much more realistic and are not what i would call cruel.

  • It is sad to see that TV channels like NatGeo Wild and others are showing fighting animals and such struggling to death just for entertainment. I miss the times when it still was for educational purposes and for the sake of watching WITHOUT disturbing.

  • that pisses me off. it was a harmless monitor! would LOVE to see him get smashed into a tree and a knife go in the back of his neck! bastard! (>_<) that should NEVER be on TV for anyone to see, children would think it was a right thing to do! and go do that to any animal

  • that guy from man vs wild pisses me off. and it to be on a channel like that makes me even more angry. it should be about the animals first not some guy showing how manly he is

  • That is exactly why I do not watch that show.

  • Ah, here's the good version! The one on Daily Motion is thoroughly messed up, and I was afraid that was all there was.

Several people and myself posted to Discovery Channel out disgust when he smoked out a colony of sleeping bats in China and beat several to death "for food" because a tribe used to do it. He also published that random bats in a cave were vampires, where you can't even tell in the footage. Discovery reacted by removing much online content publishing Grylls' cruel actions.

  • @wingedsonar Thanks for telling me about Daily Motion. I'll have to re-upload it. Nice work in telling Discovery about your disgust in Bear's behavior. I noticed that there were fewer Bear clips up on their official site. We'll have to see if they actually stop the behavior, or just stop putting the clips online.

  • While being into filming animals, I agree that these things can go way too far. Our filming takes place with captive animals, but there are still times when I feel we skirt the line. You know coming from Disco, that it's about being sensational. Ratings often times come before the animals well being. Great topic! Brian(Sbtv)

  • @SnakeBytesTV And speaking of ratings, you should see all the comments the original Man vs. Wild gets. People love this stuff! You would hope, though, that a network like Discovery would take the higher ground.

  • Oh yeah like the kind folks over at animal planet portraying harmless animals as blood thirsty killers

  • HOLY SHIT I used to love Bear grills but that is tooo far! I actually own a black throat monitor and seeing that... It sickens/pisses me of.

  • thanks for the feedback so far! I wish I could post more also--need more time! I definitely understand that people need to kill/eat to survive. But that isn't the case when filming television. Couldn't they just catch the lizard and say "we could eat this if we needed food" and then let it go? Obviously that wouldn't be as entertaining, but then that's my point. Killing animals shouldn't be done for entertainment.

  • Bears message is survive! Plain and simple. If you are in the wild, half starved and looking for a meal, then do what you need to do to survive. Bear is a trained British SAS soldier with knowledge of the land that far surpasses your avg. dog fighter, etc class of human being. And yes he is obviously making a living from this, his respect and knowledge of his environment has and will always be without question in my eyes. Love your posts. Wish you posted less infrequently.

  • i cant tell you how shocked i am right now after seeing that i love animals from the bottom of my heart and to see animals being treated like that really make's me cry it is so sad to see an amazing animal die in such a horrible way!

  • they should videotape every animal that is killed for food, so you can make more videos
