How could anybody not like Terry Gilliam and the Pythons? Don't get it. One of my favorite TV shows growing up back in the 70's on PBS. Still a big fan of Terry Gilliam's.
I love all the Gilliam Animations! And wonder why nobody tries to continue this kind of satiric comments of the society with possibilties of today animation programs. The point is of course not to copy that style. Original is always best. You have to carry on this with actual contents and design. Like a relay-racer. 21st century has themes for a lifetime, hrhrhr.
First time I ever saw this was when I were nowt but a lad, watching it with my dad, one evening when mum had gone out. Dad and me laughed so much at this, we were nearly ill. Still does it today. One of the few 'Python' skits to actually have a punchline. Almost as funny as their 'Gas Cooker' skit.
@brianartillery - luxury. back in mah day none of them 'ad punchlines, you 'ad to just make em up yourself, n father would have ye perform them all for t'rest o village on sundays after service. you 'ad it made.
"I am to stupid and illiterate to read books and perceive the text in my own imagination, so I watch TV since it requires no amount of effort imaginable"
Actually Terry Gilliam is an American, from California, and the other Pythons didn't want him at first for that reason, and then realized he had a similar sense of humor.
it can be if you watch loads, not seriously, but cause you blink less when watching tv your eyes can get a bit dried out... nothing a break and maybe some eyedrops wont solve though, the same reason is why people get sore eyes looking at comp screen too long.

yes but it uses comeddy to get in your head that tv bieng bad for you is just a joke, and those people that tell you tv is bad for you, then it works like reverse psychology on you, they tell you to do one thing and you do the opposite
It's contructive persuasion, its using comedy and means of making the audience laugh as well as throwing in that political 'mumbo jumbo' to attract not only the particular audience who watch Monty Python (mainly the educated type), but also the comedic type!
It's called metaphorical, or metaphore, whatever you wish to say!

i don't find any of their jokes funny aside from the odd few.
maybe there's a reason people weren't trying to be different. they were funny and you are different.
