I'm trying to imagine how this band's recording sessions used to be. would they just sit down and say "all right boys, let's make the best rock n roll music there is, shall we?" and the rest is history.
Because on 8.5. is #Mother´s Day, so i like to honour our dear Mother Earth and all mothers and women who could be mother with this fab song one of the greatest band Genesis #FMM:)
He began struggling with this song in 1990 when Genesis performed on Knebworth. (Video here too) And on their tour 2 years later they even had to drop the song because it was too hard to sing
An absolute 80s prog masterpiece. That drum machine beat is such an innovation, and reminds me of a prelude to hip-hop. not suprising, since Phil said that he got the laugh from Grandmaster Flash.
Hear that amazing synth tone starting at 0:52 . No one uses keyboards like that anymore.
And to any Phil Collins haters, starting at 4:30 is undoubtably one of the best vocal performences in rock, though his vocals are mixed kinda low. An incredible performence.
I am 26 years old and I grew up with bands like Genesis so to speak. I miss them. Unfortunately, nothing stays the same. The difference between them and bands today is, that they have written songs that will be for the ages. Rock bands today will soon be forgotten!
Amazing song this shows what a fan-fucking-tastic singer phil collins is, also does anyone else this that at 4:02 the lights look like the eyes of a panther
HAHA HA!!! that is so creepy, Genesis rules so hard. Too bad we dont see bands like them anymore, music just isn't great anymore... theres no music like there was in the old days.
read mojo, classic rock magazine, goldmine, etc-there's great music everywhere. turn off the damn fm radio...listen to satelitte radio. just cause we're all getting older doesn't mean you have to give up....
@Deathless1One I tend to both agree and disagree. There's alot of great stuff coming out nowadays, but it's being drowned in crap. Check out Spock's Beard, Porcupine Tree, Blackfield and Pain of Salvation for really awesome modern music.
5:18... "Now aaaaaa! can't see...", certainly is, and his voice even stayed pretty strong through the 90's. And I give props to Collins because even today he can still sing well.
HAHA HA!
