I wanted a case that just protects it from drops. I originally got the lifeproof but returned it because it was aweful with the gap between the plastic screen cover and the screen itself. I went with the Otterbox commuter over the defender mainly out of fear that the defender would have the same problem as lifeproof. did i make a good choice for protecting drops?

Okay so Otterbox is a bunch of dicks I personally love their cases, but they're tech support sucks. MY silicon AND screen protector is messed up so I sent them a picture of it in email and they said it's not messed up enough then hung up. WTF.

This case is a lot better than the Lifeproof case. The screen protector on the Lifeproof is really bad. You have to push down harder than normal to use the screen, and adds a bubble wherever you touch

Hey, guys, just to throw my two cents into the mix. I just recently purchased my second Defender case for my iPhone4. Note that are two different styles. The newer upgrade has a single cutout for the front camera. I really like my new Camo Series for two reasons: the silicon is made from a different, less pliable material, I more rigid and stays in place. The plastic screensaver is better, I have absolutely no watermarks, and I did have with the older style. Highly recommend newer upgraded case.

I gotta tell ya, I had the commuter case for my phone for about 2 weeks cause I wanted to take care of my phone since I just bought it a month ago, the commuter is good, but I took it back in exchange for this one in grey and whit since I have the white version. Big difference in protection. It's bigger but not noticeably bigger than commuter, ultimate protection i feel. Other than the fact of its not waterproof, I recommend this case to anyone with the iPhone

I had the previous version on the 3gs and it was GREAT!

So logically I bough the next version for the 4S > There is a major issue here, the silicon is super weak and keeps sagging.

As "charger19691" mentionned it keeps loosening and you spend your time readjusting it all the time, it's so annoying and then yesterday, cherry on the cake, a bit just cutt itself off... I'll bring it back and. Otterbox you are disappointing !!!

It's a good case, however I hate the way the outer rubber shell fits on the inner case. It should fit tight and it doesn't. I hope otterbox fixed this annoyance. It constantly has to be refitted.

my dad has the otterbox defender for his droid, and when i use it i notice the touch screen has some awkward responses. what i mean is that it seems to lag a little bit, a little less responsive than even my iPod Touch 2nd Gen. Is it the screen protector that's messing up the responsiveness?

I have one similar to that, its still and outer box or whatev, but the rubber is on the inside and the hard part goes on the outside of it and only covers the back and it has a flap for the charging spot and headphone spot so nothing gets in it.

I thought it would be more durable. I bought the otterbox defender for my iPhone 4 and the case broke when it dropped off of the couch... a whole 12 inches. The plastic base layer is really cheap plastic.

I just bought one of these off eBay for $10. Comparing it next to the genuine defender that I paid $60 for two months ago, the cheaper one's an absolute dead ringer (identical) to the expensive one, quality of product and all. I can't believe it. Everything is the same except that the 10 bukka doesn't have the Otterbox stampings. It's even got the same belt clip.

The major flaw about this case is very hard to slip in or out of your pocket.

It does not protect against rain or water

The camera flashing issue is very annoying especially you are in a dark place

About few weeks ago Griffin survivor made a better case and correct all those mistake and shit about otterbox defender

Once you know what you're doing, you can remove or install the iPhone 4 in about 10 seconds. It's a great case, though, and in my experience it doesn't pick up much dust inside during use, so there's little need to remove it once it's on.

Clean your hands, your iPhone, and the case interior before installation. Do not touch the inside of the screen protector with your hands!

I am 100% satisfied with my Defender. I'm confident carrying my iPhone 4 everywhere, no matter what I'm doing.

@randomrazr Defender for me. The Commuter is a fine case. Any case strikes some balance between bulk (or lack thereof) and protection. The Defender leans toward protection and more bulk; the Commuter has less bulk but also less protection.

My pockets - like the rest of my pants - are pretty clean. Any lint that I notice on the case, which isn't much, blows off with a puff of air. The case does make it harder to slip the phone in/out of a pants pocket, due both to bulk and the clingy material.

This case is too much. It's really bulky and catches alot of lint in your pocket. It's hard to pull it in and out of your pocket because it's very grippy. I used it for a week and I returned it because there's times when I want to see the iPhone 4s beauty but it's covered in the case and takes too long to put back on and off. Instead I went with the griffin motif and Ive been using it ever since. It's a real nice case

I would get the Belkin Grip Vue. It's a gel grip case that has amazing shock absorption. I've drop it countless times, a lot from about 5-6 feet from the ground. The only thing it doesn't protect is the screen, so if the screen hits something, it can and will most likely break from height. But other than that, it is pretty amazing.

You can't really protect the screen too much from drops like that though, most screen covers just prevent scratches, not shattering or anything.
