Interesting comments, even though David is my favorite Gospel artist of all time. I love and respect Guy but this rendition was split between four artist because It's a hard for just one person to carry such big song, however when David joined the group in 98 this became his as well as many other high note songs. God has blessed him with unique vocal chords that not all singers have. If it pleases God who are we to judge who's the best :) If they ain't pleasing God might as well stop singing.

For me, the one common element between this version and the "New GVB" is that they are all singing the praises of our Lord and Saviour. However, even though I love David Phelps, I love this version so much better. But, either version, there are so many blessings and the love is there!

I like this version. Nobody matches Phelps for power but I like Doug and Marsh on the verses. And boy does Penrod have some range! Wes didn't need Ernie's help here, He has drastically improved.

The new GVB with English doing the first part of the song and Phelps finishing is great too. All these guys are awesome anointed singers!

Nobody can sing this song like david did. His way was unique. With every version i get more and more convinced that nobody could ever sing like Phelps. He is the greatest singer GVB had ever had and will have.

I think I would have switched Guy to sing Wes's part and Wes to sing Guy's part. It would have been much easier on Guy's voice and Wes can reach that note easily, though not as powerful as David's voice, which can be seen on 4:15-4:36; Wes is simply standing calmly with his hand in his pocket but Ernie Haase looks like he was running out of air.

I believe that when someone is working more while singing, they're struggling more. Singing should be effortless. David hits his notes with ease and so does Wes. Muscles start to tense up when someone is singing at an uncomfortable note and it's quite visible.

For those who think this is better than w/David, have you seen the clip from Jerusalem when David absolutely kills this song.
