How about actually commenting on the video..telling me if it's any worth...y'know, as documentary. I despair at some YouTube commentators. Facebook has better manners than you lot. Get a forum. Better yet, why don't you send messages user to user, thereby sparing the truly interested your banal clique battles.
As far as the wall's origins go, this doesn't seem interesting to me, historically. From an arts and culture perspective, perhaps more notable. Grounded in the nineties at the 8min mark.
They shared common signature traits: They claim ownership of everyone and everything, and slaughter their own citizens by the metric ton. -- Wall, or NO wall; it made no difference.
My point was/is that the historical record of Socialism is so nefariously grotesque, that the repugnant ideology produces the same results, wall, (SOCIALIST GDR/USSR) or NO wall (NAZI Germany).
Try a LESS imbecilic attempt to avoid the observation.
Everybody blamed the communists that they erected the wall so people couldn't escape to the west.
Well now, there is no wall, but in order to get a visa to Germany you have to through a very humiliating process of showing just about all your personal data including rectal exam samples just to proove that you are not going to stay in the fucking Germany forever!!!!!
The wall is still there, it is not real, but a bureaucratic wall, and the hypocrasy of westerners is just sickening.
I told every communist I met in the United States that I don't care if people want to live in a communist system. If you want it so bad, move to East Germany or the USSR. Put your money where your mouth is and move or shut the fuck up (didn't want to give up free speech I guess). Did you see people trying to escape democratic countries? No! Because they are free to go and don't want to. Did you see people trying to leave East Germany and the USSR and China? Of course!
I said that there is no way I can go now and visit for example Germany without going through humiliating interogation and have to provide all kinds of papers where I got the money to travel.
This isn't the freedom of movement everybody dreamed about.
I have to do busines with my european partners through a lot of obstacles which is called "european burraucracy". The Wall is still there.
When the wall fell, all the world knew that planned economies could never bring as much health, wealth and happiness to the people as market economies could.
Soon, even communist China started to implement free market reforms. The result is the fastest improvement of standards of living in China in centuries.
Markets work. Competition and capitalism is better for the poor. Central planning, and govt ownership of business fails.
This lesson needs to be retold to each generation.
I miss the underground taking the blue line to alexanderplatz
you would pass thru all these stations that were closed in 1961 the train wouldn't stop just kept going, it was like a time-warp looking back into history seeing the early 60's again.
I was there that night. I remember it was cold, and when we heard the reports we just didn't believe it next morning it was like where all these people came from. I remember one bar had a sign (first beer free for east berliners)That didn't last long. The underground was impassable with so many people, and banana peels were everywhere. east germans never had bananas. People were lined up outside of porn shops. It was crazy. We started to have shut-in parties don't go outside too many Germans!
lol pretty funny that soviet union didn't have any bananas in shops :D so when it collapsed then everybody started to sell and buy bananas in many countries. Same happened at least in Estonia when soviet union collapsed
The woman at 1:45 says "we wondered if it ever existed". She should ask the dead, shot by the border guards.
Oh. Yes. Right

@TheAntiLeft -- You know the Wall was built in 1961 and that by then the Nazi party was 16 years past its death, right?
So, what do Nazi's have to do w/ this video?

@TheAntiLeft -- I get it. Only Socialistic societies are bad. Now I understand what you're telling me.
