Your documentary is so creative! I love the part with the four interviews in the beginning. I was in NHD this year and came in 3rd at States. Check out my video! I need some feedback.
Okay, so National History Day is pretty much when students (I'm not quite sure which great levels are eligible to participate) research an event/person in history (it doesn't have to be US history) and present the information with a performance, media, or exhibit. There is much research involved. There's a theme every year and students have to show how they're topic goes with the theme. Once the projects are completed, there is a local/regional/state/national competition.

does it end? and yes. That was incredible. I have to think of ideas for my history fair project and i want to do a performance. Can you think of any bands or musicians that were "legendary" or.. wow. I forgot the topic. -_- but yes. I see you probably got a GREAT grade huh?
You might think about Elvis as far as opening the nation's eyes to rock n roll on a broad scale. Of course, if you wanted to go into the next decade, Bob Dylan would be a great choice. Many think his music and lyrics moved an entire generation at the societal level. Good luck.
This is my first year of NHD so i want so see what other people did in other years to see what people did and how they pieced it together and i am really happy that i get to experience nhd. And your project rocked(hehe rocked)
wow 150 sources great job. but if you got below average what did evereyon else have? didn't they think itwas cool that you interviewed sebastian traum and wall?
I heard that others in our state in NHD had 60-70 sources. None of the judges made comments one way or the other about the people I was able to interview.
intersting video. never realized the impact rock had on history - makes you think. i was impressed with the traum, sebastian and wall interviews - how did you set those up
Thanks for the feedback. Glad my doc make you think. That's what they're suppose to do. My neighbor teaches part time with Wall and I set up the Traum and Sebastian interviews through a series of emails. Glad you were impressed with the interviews. I had over 150 primary sources, and the judges at states and regionals rated my research below average. I'm still scratching my head.
Submission for my next history day competition is at the end of thie month with my state's archives competition. This is an academically minded competition judged by 5 professional archivists and/or historians. All different areas are pooled, making it a broader contest. Unlike other state and national contests, projects are judged on their own as project creators are not present. If you win, you are invited to a formal awards ceremony and they provide you with a monetary award.
History Day has three to four levels. Additionally, teachers can get you into other programs. Our state has an intense Archives Program, which I was fortunate enough to win last year. This year, I was able to win the State History Interest Participation Program. Keep looking. There are many programs in every state and on the national level. I'm sure you'll find one. Good luck.
Thanks for your comment on my National History Day project. I used Pinnacle Studio 11. And, by the way, they just came out with their newest version of Pinnacle Studio 12, which I plan on using for the next National History day competition.
I am familiar with the Pinnacle program. I did not realize how far they have come though! For a documentary I entered before, I used the Pinnacle Studio 9! But for my entry this year, I used the Final Cut Studio Program. Congrats again and thanks for responding!
Super National History Day project! You should take it to the next level -- Tribeca Film Festival. National History Day is Ok -- But, move it up a notch. Good Luck at NHD!
This is what a National History Document should be. Keeps a fast pace with numerous interviews and appropriate music. Good luck at National History Day!
The cause of Jimi Hendrix's death has never been conclusively established, but it appears that he asphyxiated in his sleep and did not overdose on drugs. This is a great documentary though. My only issue is that the captions are not always very readable, but the use of sources and interviews is impressive.
Thank you for the positive comments on my National History Day project. I'll try to make the captions larger for the next round of National History day. As far as the question about Hendrix overdosing on drugs, most physicians consider that the high level of seccanol in subsequent blood tests, slowed down his body functions, causing him to choke to death, on his own vomit. Is this a true overdose or not, obviously the death was drug related.
good job!

'National History Day'.
I have never heard of it. Forgive my ignorance. I would like to know more.
Could someone please provide a good summary of what it is all about?
Is it an American thing? I have no idea.
I'm an Australian, from Darwin, currently living in Japan.
USA's history is not everybody's history.
For someone who is not from there, I sincerely want to know what 'National History Day' is all about.
P.S. Good soundtrack.
