I miss this Rudy. He was much more aggressive, went to the hoop and was really exciting. Now, he just stands at the 3 pt line and watches a lot his 3 pt shot isn't nearly what it was. I really wonder, why he hasn't been the same player as his rookie year? That fall he took against the Lakers could still be bothering him a lot. It has caused his back issues for sure.
@Beaverfan731 If the coach tells him to stay on the 3pt line then that's where he is going to stay, luckly now that Roy is injured the situation is changing and the Blazers are playing even better than with Roy.
@ju4nito True I do place a lot of blame on Nate. He has hurt a lot of his confidence. I see it i games, he will be hitting shots and going to the rim and making plays and then Nate pulls him from games for no reason. How can you ever be able to show what you can do as a player if you aren't given the correct opportunity. I'm glad though that Nate is forced to play him now and everyone can see what he can do now. Sucks though that Roy will be back and Nate will play Rudy 12 min a game.
@Beaverfan731 I get irritated too watching the games sometimes too. Nate doesn't give a shit about who has the hot hand it seems like cuz he'll pull batum or rudy or wesley after the make a couple big plays. it's frustrating to watch. Nate seems like a robot with his rotation. We have a great team we just need to get a better coach and keep everybody healthy and we can do great things in the future.
@Beaverfan731 I just posted something about that on another rudy video. I know what play you're talking about. that breakaway layup he had when Trevor Ariza took him out with his forearm. It seems like that play is in the back of his head every time he goes in the lane. he tries to teardrop it now instead of going hard to the rack.
i cant believe the minutes this guys been getting last year. 6 minutes per game? thats outrageous! theres rumors that he wont even play this season or something and hes going back to spain. portland needs to realize his talent and give him atleast 20 or 30 minutes.
Rudy is very talented. Looking at him playing in Portland reminds me when Rudy started playing in his last team, Joventut (Spain). Everybody said he was talented and spectacular but he didn't carry the leadership of the team. A pair of years later he was the absolute leader of his team, scoring more than 20 points in most of the games. I think it could happen again in Portland, he has many highlights in his first year in the NBA and maybe in the future can be better than Roy.
Rudy beat the record of 3 pointers scored in a single season with 159 3 pointers and another Spaniard raptors Calderon finished with 98% in free thows best percentage in the nba setting another record.
Notice Rudy doesn't do the showboating and stuff he just runs back he has got a lot of class and shows us (the Spanish) that we can roll against the Americans and test them for the gold, although we still have a lot of work to do!

overrated - definitely. i especially dislike when they put his alley oop dunk as no1 place on top 10, guy says spanish armada, and there are like 9 better plays on that night. he's overrated because hes from spain and stern wants more viewers, more money etc. its not that rudy is not a good player -but hes overrated.
im from europe so ive seen that kid rubio too. nothing special. the boy's got some feeling for stealing a ball and not much more. he willl never make it in the nba - mark my words.
Dude... seriously? Rudy has shown by far that he'll make it in this league. He's one of the hardest working players on the team. Definitely one of the reasons the Blazers will be going to the playoffs.
Did you even see the guy. hes skinny and has legs looking like he should be happy even to walk. reason for blazers' success? sure, one of the 15 reasons if you look at it that way, they have 15 players on their roster. THE MAIN reason is elevating Roy's game to superstar level and Aldridge's game also to the all-star level (should have been this year - agree?). Rudy is one of the role players and he fits that role well, but nothing more. Time will tell about my statement on Rubio, and youll see.
@koyote27 ya umm i watched him and noticed he averaged 8 points a game? and he totally did NOT show up in the playoffs? and your saying he is underrated? oh ya and also he he cant even take a foul without crying...clearly u haven't been watching him
@Fox250R no he wants to leave because he didn't get enough playing this season, but really he didnt get much time this season because like almost all the other Trail Blazers he was injured for a lot of the season
Rudy its too different to compare with pistol pete, maybe another Spanish from the same club (la penya, Joventut)Ricky Rubio, they play in other level in the ACB n in the Spanish team...seek Ricky & rudy progression they are amazing players
This guy is going to be a modern day Pistol Pete Maravich. God bless you Rudy, it's a great time to be a Blazer believer!!!!! Portland native, P-town for life!!!!
Hell yeah brother, Rudy got robbed by the judges on his second dunk. Classic Blazer hating from the national media. Blazers have to do everything perfect to get any national media, and when they lose or screw up, they get crucified. The squad we have now, is totally capable of going deep into the playoffs, especially if Bynum can just stay down and out. I think they should make there starting line up, Roy, Bayless, Aldridge, Fernandez as small forward, and Oden, think of the speed we would have.
That is fucking stupid. He is NOT going to be a Pistol Pete. Pete was one of best PG of all time. He had much more flashy moves then Rudy is ever going to have.
@Wingen1337 Sorry, I just can't take anyone serious who can't figure out the difference between "then" and "than". They teach that shit in second grade english.
I love the expression on Phil Jackson's face at the end. Rudy is awesome. You can tell that the Laker D is piss poor on him ... they had no idea what they were getting into. Obviously you are blind or just stupid.
Look at his stats. Good average 3% shooting (what his position demands), awesome 2pt shooting, stealing, good court vision...
Yes I'm spanish and if he wasn't that good I would recognise. But saying hes overrated...
His 1st year and he's already been one of the best sources to the team to make points. This will increase greatly in the next years MARK MY WORDS.
