  • Tough enough to use pink hoofpicks? :) I love the videos. One thing I would caution people is to tie your horses where one can't get his head under the other's head just for safety's sake. Love what you're doing - keep up the great work!

  • I enjoyed your video. Nice work. I could almost feel the motion of your horse when you sit in the saddle. You make me feel like riding. I understand everything your doing. I often had to get horses ready after the winter months.

  • so helpful as always I learned something new today thank you :-) tanner was feeling all frisky

  • Lol made me laugh with your American accent 'take a chill pill' haha great video, helps me:) thanks

  • It's a holy shit handle! hahahaah

  • Rick, sometimes you drive me crazy with your video's. But, yeah, there is a BUT, this video is really good. I like the check list and your review of getting on a horse that hasn't been ridden in a while. This video is a good refresher of what one needs to know and do. Thanks!

  • when you use that stuff when your horse starts to buck you pretty much get bucked off right away. its all in your legs and the way you move your body when the horse is bucking.

  • I love how he says the horse is just being a horse, cause a lot of people don't seem to understand that!

  • When I go foxhunting with my horse, and we arrive in a new area, I let him walk around (with a lead rop attached) and graze after I unload him from the trailer, so he can take in everything and relax a bit. After after I tack up and mount up, I let him walk around some more. He seems kind of nervous and energetic once im on. So we walk around for a while, visit other horses and then I find a place to stop and wait. After we explore the trailer grounds, he is less fidgety. Do you think that ok???

  • I love Mr. T

He's tough. He's built, for, tough! Haha..

    :D

That... was supposed to be a joke... I mean, cause he's a Mustang... and ya know...

Yeah...ok. Anyways, looks like he's ready to kick butt anytime huh! Haha...

Always learning something new from you Rick, thanks for your time doing these videos. C-ya!

  • Rick is by far one of the best trainers I have ever seen!

  • Is T a Mustang?

  • "I didn't buy it BECAUSE it was pink" haha thanks for the laugh...I got stuck getting a pink brush once...I may be a girl but I hate pink...my family made fun of me for a month because I'd walk around with a pink brush hangin out of my pocket!

Question though. How Mr. T acts (Trying to walk off, goin constantly) is exactly how my horse Fred is. I've been working with him constantly yet theres no improvement! He's an ex speed horse, would that have anything to do with it?

  • Ay rick its been real hot in texas can u come film a video here so the wind will pick up maybe cool things down? haha

  • OMG Mr. T is like my horse Taffy's twin they even look similar Taffy is a fiesty "U piiss me off if u don't let me cut loose" kinda horse he is awsome and the boldest horse in the right hands, not for the faint hearted, he kicks ass.

  • Humm, not many of your viewers are pleased

  • Lol (Says in gay voice)"FABULOUS PINK HOOF PICK" JK =P

  • Tanner beautiful! I want a horse like him...no i just want a horse i can ride haha!

  • Wow, I wish I had seen this video a couple of years ago. Totally correct and on point about trainers working with horses and not people.

  • i have a horse that he might ride fine for 5 minutes you giv ehim his head just a lil bit and he starts bucking?

  • I made the mistake of riding yesterday without doing much ground work before going out on a long ride, that she hasn't done in probably 2 years. I do small ground work everyday, sacking out, giving to pressure etc.. We got about 2 miles out, I gave her break getting off, loosing the cinch. When I went to get back on she was prancy and running in circles not wanting me to get back on, hurry to get back to her pasture mates. Finally getting on, she reared. How do I correct when she does this?

  • i have a horse that hasnt been ridden in 10 years...any advice???

  • @vampirewolf224 : Start the horse over like it has never been ridden, to the horse it never has. Slow is fast with horses.

  • pray

  • @vampirewolf224 My gelding hadnt been ridden in eight. We started over from the begginnig- slowly putting on the saddle and weight, it worked out just fine.

  • I enjoyed the work with Mr. T.

Coming out of winter I worked my mare just ground work one day until she was properly attentive. The next day I lunged her on the rope halter lead a few times each way then tied the mecate and pretty much did the Mr. T thing.

I need to reinforce the stand quiet at the beginning more. I gave in to her eagerness too soon. We walked and then trotted patterns and then around the ranch; 4 strides and lope off was her idea, whoa, back up, start again...
