Roger Waters, you're a fucking genius, who else in the music industry can come up even close with such haunting and mysterious lyrics and amazing music notes, I will treasure your name and respect you for as long as I live, you're a mastermind behind Pink Floyd's music,
Damn...I never noticed how boring and bland this song is until I listened to this live version. THEN...when Gilmour came in with his fucking awesome solo, I remembered why Pink Floyd is so awesome.
I absolutely love how around 3:30 the solo deviates slightly from what has become the typical version. It took going back to the early 70's to find that! :)
Gilmour's efficiency in notes is amazing. He only needs the bending of a single note to express so much...
is there any concert where gilmour plays the original studio solo? i've been dying to see and hear one.. the concert version is great but the studio version is just mindblowing.
im not aware of one maybe one of the 1972 concerts had the studio solo ill look through. but he always improvises the solos live with the exception of shine on you crazy diamond in recent years
i came from an "australian pink floyd show" video and must say: Who the fuck are they??
nothing is as good as the original.
btw: the guitar solo is amazing!

The Wembley 1974 concert is better, sound quality wise.
But I like how they play the songs in this version, very powerful performance!
I wish someone would remaster this one, it deserves it.

talking about shine on you, he skipped one of the best part of the song, in PULSE concert.
the bit im talking about is at 7:40 in the studio version of shine on you.
cophahn 2 years ago 4
yes the distorted solo he only actually played that part live on the 1977 tour (unless you count the 1974-1975 pre recording versions)
pinkfloydrule27 2 years ago
do you happen to have that video? or is it the same video (8mm) that you said you're gonna upload. i'll be waiting man. thanks.
