He's a freshman. Those skills develop over time as one becomes used tot he system that they are in and the speed that college game is played compared to high school. It doesn't matter anyway because he is transferring anyway.

Seems to have good mobility for a quarterback. Can buy himself time in the pocket, or move the pocket if needed. Strong arm, but mechanics need work. Accuracy was a little off, even on the stationary throws. We'll see what he has against Notre Dame this Saturday... the battle between the resistible force and the movable object.

I didn't say a qb needs speed, but when you're that slow you need to step the rest of your game up because you can't buy time. And to answer your question, Steve Young was fast.

Since when is it solely up to the QB to buy himself time? If he's got a good O-line he can be as slow as a glacier and it won't make a bit of difference..look at Peyton Manning...S-L-O-W...and also a Superbowl Champ. As for Mallett going to Michigan, what a shame, should have stayed home in Texas.
