HOOAH i will be in army 6yrs as a 2LT or a private as a private i will just like to thanks all the troops past present and future Thank you remember the fallen for us my uncle is baried name: Leonard Majewski servie: army ww2 won the sliver star in ww2 for herosim at monte casino italy rank: sgt he passed away 2 year ago in january RIP ever memorial day i have a copy of his certifice of how he won i read it out loud and give him a salute Rember the fallen Thank you
I could never say thank you enough to those who give the ultimate sacrifice. How unfair it is that they have died and there are those who continue to spit on thier graves. I pray some day those people will pull thier heads from their butts and take a second to listen to the American Soldier; Thier passion, and will to fight...That's got to be enough. It is for me. I salute you all.
I thank God for men and women such as these; men and women who would place themselves in harm's way to preserve my freedom. They are truly heroes, every last one of them.
This just makes us work even harder on a daily basis to honor our fallen brothers and sisters. We are fortunate to have such wonderful people who support out mission in Iraq
Ppl like b00tube aren't americans. They are NOT americans. They are just dick heads. they don't know what we stand for. You are not a MAN. Coz you don't fight for wat you believe in! and that's dishonorable! you lil pieace of shit mf. get the fuck outta US or you will be fucked up. fuckin unamerican! YOU MUST DIE!
Anyone who fights for my freedom, especially those who give the utlimate sacrafice, are heroes to me. Stop arguing over what defines a hero, and be honored to have the respect for these soldiers and, at the very least, call them heroes - because that is what they are to this country. They voluntarily signed the dotted line.
Too all military members and families, thank you forever.
Yeah! How dare you have an opinion that differs from me. I don't consider them heroes any more than any other person that is put in tough situations. The fact is: Hero is just a word. And unfortunately it is thrown around way too much in American society.
I do however respect them and isn't that good enough?
If you honestly don't define a soldier as being a hero, then please tell me what you do define one as. Soldiers are sent to fight for our nation, which includes everything we live and breathe, for our freedom. And they do this without hesitation so people such as yourself can live a free life. So rather than taking a soldiers role in society so lightly, remember that they're out their risking their lives so you can live yours, and then try to tell me that they aren't heroes.
I don't think that a soldier forgets why he's fighting, of course it may seem that he is there simply defending his friends and his own self but I think you're missing the point. He was sent there on a mission and part of that mission is ALWAYS keeping your fellow troops alive. You say that you know a lot about teambuilding and hierarchy, but when in a war situation hierarchy doesn't matter, it's all about the instinct to survive.
You'd like for me to respond to your statement, "Why are they heroes?" Well, the definition of a hero is as follows; a man of distinguished courage or ability, admired for his brave deeds and noble qualities. So answer me this, why isn't a soldier sent to defend his country a hero?
You fight because it's your job. I know alot about teambuilding and hierachie. I also know that when you are over there you stop fighting for your nation you just fight for for your buddies and your life.
I am not antiwar or or anti-U.S(naming the two in the same sentence also is not meant to imply anything). I do not think U.S. soldiers differ any from any other soldier in the world. Since you did not respond to the statement i made in my comment i shall not try to clearify what i meant.
I would like to address F00dTube. How can you be so blind? You clearly know nothing about the U.S. or what we stand for! You state "They died for no appearent reason." That is the most ignorant thing i've heard. When was the last time you strapped on your boots and went and fought for something you believe in? Cleary you have no sense of pride or remorse. What makes you think that you have the right to talk about the U.S. or its soldiers, till your in OUR BOOTS?
I agree its a touching and moving video but while I acknowledge and accept the bravery of all those who have died, been injured or are presently in Iraq I don't share the same view as many that they are fighting a just or necessary war and can't help feeling that all these people have died for nothing.
I just have watched your video and it is lovely and so sad. But there also is much strength because it is well advised to know that these men and women have not died for free. No, they have died in fulfilment of her duty. You have made the world safer and have protected our country. It God protect our soldiers, God protects the United States of America this to know me with pride filledly.
Salute!

To paraphrase John Glenn:
'You go with me to any Gold Star mother, and you look her in the eye and tell her that her son was not a hero.'
