nope. you can play genre-less. blues wasn't always blues. at one point people were just playing music. what it was called didn't matter, they were just playing. anything we play, sure it may have a fancy new name in the future, but right now were just playing. but all your simplified minds can't accept something for what it is. you have to seperate it from everything else. you have to have everything fit into a slot, slide into a category, be compared. in my mind it's all just music.

also define "normal" in some genres of guitar music such as classical or flamenco, FINGERPICKING is "normal"
they dont play with plectrums as plectrum is not "normal" for most bass players and its their style choice, so unless you can define normal in proper terms this is answer enough

That's Victor's brother, Reggie on guitar.Victor toured with Whis three brothers in 2004. I saw them at the Belly Up in Solana Beach. What an amazing show! The bass in player is fucking awesome. But the guitarists ((although extremely good with the rhythm)), Didn't seem to bring much to to the table. He used a lot of 'tricks' to make it seems better than it was.
if those tricks are rythmically and harmonically pleasing then its music and its quallity music. It really doesnt matter how you get there only that you do. some of those 'tricks' will lay groundwork for tomorrows innovations into the next big thing!

His name is Wooten! And there is no comparison between Victor & Cliff. Maybe it would make a little more sense if U were comparing him to Stanley Clarke or somebody like that. For the record though, Victor could do Cliff onehanded & probably in his sleep.
I've watched this video a number of times, and i take back my previous comment. If you listen very closely, you can hear him actually playing, and it's very well.
