El drive no me gusta tanto (I love not so much the drive chanel). No es una saturación muy british. (Not brit sound). Prefiero menos compresión en los saturados...
what du u guys out there think: is that thing definitely worth its money?? b/c im looking for a good little tube amp not so expensive and good sounding
Personally, I think it sounds nasty when pushed. And not good nasty, either. Scratching on chalkboard nasty. But for what it's worth, to my ears, very few of the little mass-market 5-watters that are out today sound great when pushed really hard.
The clean sounds are pretty nice, though.
But remember, everyone, no matter how good it does or doesn't sound, as Firebird3509576 says, all amps without effects loops are useless. Just don't tell the first 50 years of guitar effects users. :)
I think that a single ended 5 watter should be run through a 12". Hell, my dad had a SE 4 watt amp back in high-school that had a 15" jensen with a big square magnet and a 2" voice coil. 5 watts in single ended configuration is actually about the decibel equivalent to 12 watts in a push/pull cathode biased circuit. OK, now I am tech-talking, and I might say something wrong and be embarrassed, so I will just shut up and watch the video;-)
@MFJord1 5 watts is 5 watts regardless of the type of tube. Each tube has a different type of sound when saturated with power. Loudness or SPL's Has more to do with the size and sensitivity of the speaker in the amp. So two 5 watt amps are almost identically loud if they both have the same type of speaker cab. I dont know if that helps....

Sounds great... but like every other amp in its class it is useless b/c it has no effects loop. I use 5 watt amps live and mic them, but w/o a loop, they are useless. Would someone wake up and put an effects loop in the Valve Jr., Blackheart Amps, and all the rest of the wonderful sounding, but functionally useless amps!
I think the point is that if you are buying a 5 watt amp, you are looking to get power tube saturation at lower volumes. An effects loop will allow you to place your time-based effects after preamp distortion, but with only 5 watts of headroom, your power tubes will most likely slightly distort whatever you place in the effects loop anyways.
Since it is a manufacturers demo i have my doubts that the amp is stock (even with the celestion). Anyway great sound.

Oops. I must have missed the memo. All low powered amps w/o effects loops are useless? Silly me. Who knew?
There's a lot of great recordings I'll have to throw out now.
Thanks for the heads up.

@codyt5 Never thought of that.

agreed. fx loops are a huge deciding factor in amps. other wise youre relying on buffers.
nickfromdtown1992 1 year ago
@Firebird3509576 don't need to have an fx loop to be usefull
