  • Loving this cheeky explanation of the differences between organic farming and intensive farming!

  • Several points in this video are either factually incorrect or woefully misleading:

1, If more people buy organic it will not become cheaper.

2, Crop rotation is common on conventional farms as well as organic farms.

3, Show me scientific evidence that organically reared animals are happier.

4, Organic food has not been proven to have health benefits or taste better.

    5, Anti-oxidents is spelt anti-oxidants

6, Eating organic food does not increase your sperm count.

  • @drrobhatch Several points in this comment are either factually incorrect or woefully misleading:

    1. If more people buy more organic it is more likely to be subsidized(like many conventional crops are) which would lower the cost, making organic cheaper.

    2. But "crop rotation schemes on organic farms include more crops than on conventional farms." fao.org/DOCREP/004/Y1669E/y1669e09.htm

  • @drrobhatch Several points in this comment are either factually incorrect or woefully misleading

    3. Here is some scientific evidence that the animals are more stress resistant(which suggests they are probably happier). "Conventional housing led to a higher IgG response three weeks after the first immunisation. Organic housing led to lower haptoglobin and lactate concentrations at slaughter, indicating a higher stress resistance in these pigs." ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/15727924

  • @drrobhatch Several points in this comment are either factually incorrect or woefully misleading:

    4. Most studies suggest organic is healthier and/or has more nutrients. "Organic crops contain a significantly higher amount of certain antioxidants (vitamin C, polyphenols and flavonoids) and minerals""there is a lower level of pesticide residues, nitrate and some heavy metal contaminations in organic crops compared to conventional ones." ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/17297755

  • @drrobhatch 4.continued ""on average organic foods contain slightly higher levels of trace minerals, vitamin c and antioxidant phytonutrients than conventionally grown crops." "Organic meat products have been shown to reduce risk for potential prion-related diseases including mad cow disease and to arsenic residues in chicken meat, and organic livestock practices do not contribute to the growing phenomenon of drug resistant pathogens." nal.usda.gov/afsic/pubs/faq/Bu yOrganicFoodsB.shtml

  • @drrobhatch 4. continued "For individual nutrients, existing studies show that organic fertilization practices produce crops with higher levels of ascorbic acid, lower levels of nitrate, and improved protein quality compared with conventionally grown crops.""Animal studies showed better growth and reproduction in animals fed organically grown feed compared with those fed conventionally grown feed." ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/9439021

  • @drrobhatch 4. continued ""A short review of such experiments shows that the majority of these tests revealed effects of the organically produced feed on health parameters such as reproductive performance and immune responses."" The science-based results suggest positive influences from organic feeds" ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/203550 28 "Ecological food is tastier and contains more essential amino-acids, vitamin C, and micro-nutriments than usual food" ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/16610189

  • @drrobhatch 4. continued "1/ organic plant products contain more dry matter and minerals (Fe, Mg); and contain more anti-oxidant micronutrients such as phenols and salicylic acid, 2/ organic animal products contain more polyunsaturated fatty acids""4/ 94–100% of organic food does not contain any pesticide residues, 5/ organic vegetables contain far less nitrates, about 50% less" agronomy-journal"dot"org/index .php?option=com_article&access =doi&doi=10.1051/agro/2009019& Itemid=129

  • @drrobhatch "higher nitrate and lower vitamin C contents of conventionally-produced vegetables" ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/12002790 "slight trend towards higher ascorbic acid content in organically grown leafy vegetables and potatoes.""lower protein concentration but of higher quality in some organic vegetables and cereal crops""animal feeding experiments indicate that animal health and reproductive performance are slightly improved when they are organically fed" ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/12907407

  • @drrobhatch 4. continued "Organic crops contained significantly more vitamin C, iron, magnesium, and phosphorus and significantly less nitrates than conventional crops. There were nonsignificant trends showing less protein but of a better quality and a higher content of nutritionally significant minerals with lower amounts of some heavy metals in organic crops compared to conventional ones." ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/11327522

  • @drrobhatch 4. cont. International Journal of Food Sciences and Nutrition study review of organic vs conventional diet in animals. Weight gain was greater in organically fed rats, mortality was lower at 9 weeks, incidence of degenerative diseases was lower. Lower mortality in organically fed rabbits. 2nd and 3rd generation rabbits from organically fed parents exhibited higher birth rates and more viable embryos. Infectious illnesses were less frequent in 2nd generation organically fed animals.

  • @drrobhatch Several points in this comment are either factually incorrect or woefully misleading:

    5. Unless you were talking about the plant, "spelt" it is supposed to be "spelled".

    6. This study suggests it does "High sperm density among members of organic farmers' association" thelancet"dot"com/journals/lancet/article/PIIS0140-6736(94)92605-0/fulltext

I also posted animal studies for #4. which suggest fertility was increased in the organically fed animals.

  • @SpamPudding Sustainable Agriculture Farming Systems project at UC Davis. Results from the first 8 years of the project show that organic and low-input systems had yields comparable to the conventional systems in all crops tested-tomato,safflower,corn and bean, and in some instances yielding higher than conventional systems(Clark 1999a)

  • Thank you so much for making this video, it has helped me so much with my homework. Nice work.

  • Great video! Really well done. Make small choices, such as choosing organic, can really make such a big difference. As more people become aware of organic food options, many are still unaware of the world's second dirtiest crop (based on amt of pesticides used): Cotton. If you are interested in learning more, please watch our video Why Organic Cotton?

  • The one think they're not taking into account when they say that organic farming uses less energy than intensive farming is that they're not taking into account the energy used per single crop ratio. In intensive farming it's let's say 30,000 units of energy for 1000 ears of corn, and 25,000 units of energy for 500 ears of corn grown organically. Sure organic farming uses less energy, but there is a much smaller crop output.

  • Organic is good and all, but this video hardly constitutes a debate.

  • @CairnsFoodGarden

Organic is so much better for the earth and us, its indisputable and obvious common Sense

  • @LifeRegenRevolution

    Don't troll me.

  • @CairnsFoodGarden

make sure you eat an Organic Vegan diet !

  • @CairnsFoodGarden

you need to watch the vids by

    LIFE REGENERATOR

  • Although I am not against Organics this video is painfully mis-informed and one sided

  • @noahnoahnoahnoah

    This video speaks Truth !

  • This video describes the organic message in a simple and humourous way

  • @organicangels

Youd luv the raw vegan vids by

    LIFE REGENERATOR

  • Pretty sarcastic when he refers to the animals we eat as "our friends". Man is the only species on Earth that eats his friends. I wonder if the animals reciprocate in what they call us.

  • this video really demonstrates well the benefits of organic farming in a fun way. i like the effects. :) i think it would be a great classroom tool.

also i thought the British factor was cool too. (i live in america. was cool to see britains view on organic farming.)

  • The more people that buy organic the cheaper it will become? And do you mind telling me how I'm gonna pay my mortgage when I have to sell lettuce for $1 a head? We don't charge these prices because we're greedy, it's because that's what you need to charge when you farm on a small scale. It's not that much more expensive for vegetables as it is. You start paying a lower price, small farmers start adopting cheaper practices and the quality of the food suffers and we're back to square one.

  • @myroncope

organic food has alot higher levels of Phytonutrients

  • @LifeRegenRevolution what the fuck does that have to do with my post? Please, explain it to me

  • @myroncope

its all fully explained in detail on the channel

    LIFE REGENERATOR

  • @LifeRegenRevolution I'm sorry but I'm talking about economics and the detail in this video about making organic food cheaper. Cheap food is what causes slavery. I raise organic food and I wish everyone could afford it. I will not tolerate complaining from rich people about the price of my food. How much do you make an hour?

  • @myroncope

    i make $ 8 an hour

  • Fantastic!
