@loveintheparanormal The mysteries of history are indeed wonderful and this is certainly one. Templar symbols, Spanish scissors, water channels and who knows what else. Well whatever it is, it belongs to Nova Scotia now. Up to them what happens I suppose.
@2001perseus yes but i have to wonder, will it ever be unearthed.. there is tantalizing evidence there is treasure in the Pit, but it has evaded us for so long i wonder if it's truly and permanently out of reach
@rammsteinregeln Absolutely no idea. It does seem an elaborate construction to simply be a burial pit for instance. I would hope any further investigation of it is done by archaeologists with no further loss of life to amateur treasure hunters. The water channels will have to be sealed off. It will have to be pumped out and possibly the steel plate lifted out with a crane? Even then the whole thing could cave in on itself with the water gone. Could be a costly exercise to reveal nothing.
@rammsteinregeln It could probably be done if no one cares about making a possible financial loss on the operation and is willing to fund it. Not sure that's likely in the present financial climate. I suppose they could cut a way through to send a camera down first, but if that reveals no evidence of valuable artefacts I doubt it would be pursued further. I understand your frustration at what seems to be academic indifference to answering the question though.
Reverend, the existence of Canada was not known in 1310. If templars came to Canada with treasure there is only place and time they came from. Scotland after the 1745 rebellion when the Stuart line they were sworn to was exiled for good and the cause was lost. The templar fleet escaped France for Scotland in 1308 where they were granted forfeited lands in return for swearing allegiance to the line of King Robert de Bruce forever. Scotland was excommunicated that was why they fled there. Dream on
Why did they bury there treasure so deep underground? That's what I'd like to find out. What's the point of burying something that deep if you can't even dig it up? etc...
Perhaps to ensure its perservation no matter what happens to the land above it, or maybe they had a separate tunnel structure that would make for another way to get to it besides digging.. who knows

@2001perseus Exactly! Maybe technology could yield new ways to get at whatever is there

i think what ever is buried there is meant to stay there forever and is most likely a source of evil.

The knights templars--pretty much the CIA of their time was in in charge of possession and protecting what? The Holy Grail...
