You're all sort of right, in france or germany it just wouldn't happened. many factors are to blame. 1 reason never mentioned too often is the great british disease "lazyitis" lots of men getting paid very well to do as little as possible and take as much home with them as will fit in their pockets, amongst other things!! I live in Preston the leyland factory used to take up half of leyland and employ thousands, it's a little industrial unit now.
