  • I am working in Cedar Rapids 16 months after the flood just blocks from the river. I am confused, so many homes boarded up. Living that close to a river, did that many people not have flood insurance? Some of those neighborhoods I bet were beautiful at one time. It is sad to see all the boarded up homes. Only a select few are rebuilding. What are going to happen to those homes?

  • @fenton1017 that wont let u have fllod insurance if u live next to the river

  • I lived in the flood zone. No one lives there now. The life of those old neighborhoods is gone. The people, once neighbors, are scattered to the wind. Friends, neighbors and family alike struggling to survive without the comforts of their community. All the while, the word "community" is taken to finance the recovery of the business districts while the people suffer.

  • yes that is true but the people help each other out and in New Orleans they lotted, killed, and stoled

  • How Ironic that The floods worst day was Friday the 13th

  • this is worse than katrina the katrina water didnt have the massive current and to make matters worse we had just had bad tornadoes PLUS most of Iowa was flooded i think it was like 80 of iowas 90 counties not sure though

  • close its 95 out of 99. I live in Iowa and they said on the news that Cedar Rapids is going to buy out all of the flooded propriety. but for me i live up on a hill and stayed dry.
