You guys bitching are ridiculous. This was a great review. The truth is the GS doesn't improve any performance numbers over a stock C6. But if you're going to track the car it's worth it for the better brakes, wider wheels and dry-sump oiling (which includes a forged steel crank vs. cast-iron in the base LS3). The GS models LS3 is also hand-built next to the LS7 and LS9.
Personally, I would rather buy a used Z06 and improve the suspension.
Fiber glass is really no different than carbon fiber and tell me exactly what other cars duplicate it's performance numbers. I can't wait to hear this. Also, I doubt gm says the manual does 26Mpg on the freeway. That's the number for the Automatic!
@bronxboyXXX Maybe the 2011 Shelby GT500? Quarter mile in 12.3sec@119mph. 0-60 in 4.2sec, 550hp & 510lb-ft torque. All this for $48,645! A small amount of tunning and changing out the blower pulley will push the car past 600hp for less than $250! But it does only get 23mpg, a full 3mpg less than the Vette GS. By the way carbon fiber is nothing like fiberglass. It's a lot light and stronger, why do you think most supercars use carbon fiber and not fiberglass?

Have you any Idea how much abuse they have to take? fiberglass is much more advanced than people give it credit and many super cars use it! The C4 Callaways had it as well as the C5 corvette & today there are versions of the vette like the Z06, ZR1 & the carbon edition which use both technologies.
@bronxboyXXX The main difference is the strength and especially how you work with them. I've laid fiberglass many times and it's very easy. Lay your glass, roll on some resin, lay some more glass, some resin.....Just keep going until you have the thickness you want. CF is a little different beause you need to use a vacume bag and oven, if you want it to be strong. I've been playing around with making crossbows out of it but so far they have all turned out crappy, still learning.

That was 4.4 with a street start and no spin at all. That was one easy launch. The LS3 Automatics are times at 4.3 so I would hope with LC, this car could hit 4.0 or 3.9.

@762SLR762 Actually the Z06 is 3.7 seconds. Motortrend has all of the incremental test times posted on their site... 3.9 seconds 0-60 for the 2010 GS. Trust me, if all they could do is 4.4 they either had crap weather conditions/high density altitude, or a crap driver.
I have one of these and will be taking it to Lingenfelter this fall for the E-Force supercharger package. 599 flywheel hp will eat a Z06 and spit out the pieces !

reason i chose to buy my 2010 grandsport over the zo6 is simply because of the targa top. My dream car always had the option of removing the roof at will and the zo6 just doesn't cut that bill. for 70 horsepower more and a few thousand extra dollars without the option of taking off the roof, I got my grandsport and can just add extra boosts to match/surpass the zo6

They should've used the Grand Sport name to produce a sports car instead of an intermediate between the base and Z06 models. The result from a weight reduction program and trim-specific suspension package would've been much more unique than what it is now.
This is literally the best corvette to date. All the options you could ever want, and you can still throw a blower on there and make 600 at the wheels.

reason i chose to buy my 2010 grandsport over the zo6 is simply because of the targa top. My dream car always had the option of removing the roof at will and the zo6 just doesn't cut that bill. for 70 horsepower more and a few thousand extra dollars without the option of taking off the roof, I got my grandsport and can just add extra boosts to match/surpass the zo6

Motor Trend uses the 1-foot rollout method for their 0-60 numbers. Asphalt conditions, temperature, and altitude all affect 0-60 and 1/4 mile performance making comparisons between road tests unfair.

I know the Corvette is a great car with great performance.....but there is just one think I dont like about this car: the fiber glass and plastic body structure.....that combinations sounds like a weak body configuration. I know it has so much to do with its great peformance, but I still dont like it.....Above that is the carbon fiber body, and that is really fancy hehehe!. Anyway, good looking car, good performance car.

@furbygr its really 4.1. but 3.9isnt overzelous. the z06 dynos 470 hp and they do 0-60 in 3.4-3.7 so a car with the same aerodynamics and alil less hp shouldnt be much slower

for the 0-100 kmh(0-62) only z06 and zr1 can acheive times below 4

They should've used the Grand Sport name to produce a sports car instead of an intermediate between the base and Z06 models. The result from a weight reduction program and trim-specific suspension package would've been much more unique than what it is now.

Turns out this video was reposted because GM threatened Edmunds that they would be banned from reviewing GM cars after what this video originally said. These include the pushrod engine being low tech, dash being "designed by cave men", feeling "old fashioned" and having nowhere to plug your iPod.
Matt Farah, formerly of Garage419, was forbidden from making video reviews by GM, Porsche and Chrysler for saying things about their cars that they didn't want to hear.

And as far as this $70K Vette (turbo or otherwise) goes .. this is what I would do .. I would buy a used drag strip Suzuki for $10K, that that guy's pink slip, sell the Vette and buy some rental property before the car lost any more value due to depreciation.
Then I would sell the $10K Suzuki and enjoy a nice vacation.
