  • He is the best!!

  • Have loved John for years and really sad that he never took off in the USA ....:(

  • Very good song *****

  • And I Jizzed in my pants...

  • This guy is amazing, and he should remind us all of how things should be sung, from the heart. I'm 20 and i believe that, there's hope yet haha. Best live voice I've ever heard and im proud to be aussie.!!

  • i want nothing more than make us to stand proud....that's freedom... :-)

  • i want more than make us stand proud....that's freedom... :-)

  • this is live, no autotune, no dancers and flashy fireworks to cover for bad vocals, just pure voice, THE voice and what a voice. its such a shame more people like john farnham arent coming out of the wordwork

  • i have the same haircut as johnny. i fuckin love him

  • Awesome song with such meaning.

  • perfect performance......

  • @billbocate Absolutely! The was the best John Farnham ever sounded... he just never managed to reproduce that same, almost three-dimensional, sound after he let David Hirschfelder go. Of course, he also had the amazing Jack Jones and Phil Buckle on guitars, which were a massive part of it...

  • What a voice and live performance !!! Holdon a sec. Ain't this country music? :D

  • yeah,,,,,,!

  • cut the mullet, get out the hairclippers jerk. your head looks like a rats nest.

  • @stephengnelson. Cut him some slack - this clips about 15 years old

  • @stephengnelson who gives a shit what he looked like anyway u tool its about the music...

  • REASON TO LIVE, THAT'S FREEDOM... luv it!! and good on ya John!! such an oldie but says so much !!!! fabulous music!

  • farnsyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy rocks

  • Does it for me everytime. All a bit 80's and cheesy but boy does it send shivers down the old back bone!!

  • This is an American song written by an American Tom Kimmel. Kimmel's original version is so much better; raw, rough,unpolished...like a Springsteen or Seger song. Its a patriotic song about the heartland of America, something only an American can feel. You can't make it better by a big production.

  • @mistertom718 So? Have a look how many US military videos have "Thunderstruck" and other AC/DC songs on them (please don't tell me you think they're American). Hell there is one out there showing US Soldiers with the song "The band Played Waltzing Matilda" (last I checked there weren't any in Gallipoli in 1915). Kimmel has even done Paul Kelly covers as well and Kelly is an Aussie. So shut up and appreciate the song.

  • Love this song, love the whole gig, but that chick who has eyes bulging out of her head every 3 seconds at .27 and .33 creeps me out. Isnt it weird how you notice weird things that stick with you? Irwin and Buckle rip it in this gig yay!

  • I think every big aussie brand (holden, qantas etc) has used this song in one of their commercials at least once

  • @kennythecarsalesman Really? Ha - how about that! Must've been before my time...

  • @kennythecarsalesman yes they have i remember back it the day when smoke were $6 a carton was $20

  • Yawn Yeah OK By Farnham, getting tired by him saying this is his last concert, sorry to not be so over excited. So Over 'Farnhem.

  • @novalee66 Get fucked!

  • @requiemaura You got *that* right! ;-D

  • Wayne Nelson from Little River Band on bass. Nice.

  • YES!!! This is realy a powerful song and since over two years the ringtone on my mobile-telephone. John is one of the greatest singers worldwide - just hear the voice! Einfach genial!

  • What an amazing singer! Im blessed to live my life listening to singers like Steve Perry,Glenn Hughes and of course............John Farnham.

  • does not get any better than this

  • God look at all those pathetic drunk? aussie women trying to sing with Farnham...hoe embarrassing!! ...how*...hmm I'm not sure I'd even correct that error...looks right on the first...I'm not Australian ok...I'm really babylonian...........

  • @DragonzINXS Your really, really fucked cunt!

  • The best John Farnham song it just make just you know your free to sing an dance and have a bit of Freedom in your life. My favorite quote comes from this song "its a song of the heart- a race in the wind- a light in the dark: that's FREEDOM"!!

  • what beautiful guitar solos by Jack Jones!

  • Thats Freedom! LOVE = FREEDOM

  • This song is very special for me. Because in my mind are all those beautiful memories of my first trip to Australia...... love this song!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!....

  • love this song :)

  • i was like 4 when i hurd this song still a great song

  • hes a alright singer :))

  • I've been lookin for the concert that Jack was on guitar...... gonna buy that DVD right now.

  • very good stuff

    thanks!

  • Eingach nur Wow. Diesen Song müßte man jedem Politiker, oder nichtssagenden Weltverbesserern um de Ohren schlagen.

Yes, this is a pure song, with immens power and positive energy.

  • (Eingach just Wow. This song would have to be every politician, or meaningless to de-gooders ears beating.)

  • I was 15-16 years old the first time i heard this song and just like then it stills blows my mind at an age of 29!! The aussies take the pole position when it comes to music... acdc, inxs, midnight oil and John Farnham!!!

  • you forgot barnsey! ... *sigh*

  • You are so right... apologies to Barnsey. How could I forget!! But the thing about Barnsey is that he is in a league of his own. No comparison can be given.

  • i was 11 when i first heard Thats Freedom i sung it lol but the first time i heard the tune it blew me away at how good it was (im 13 now but even today after 2 years i kniow the words and sing it a lot.)

  • If memory serves the date was 14th or 15th december '90

  • Just turned fiftyone... You'd think I'd have learned by now, but this song still bring tears of joy in my eyes, makes me stand straight and walk with head held high...raised fist in the air.. I was a sucker for the original with Tom Kimmel for a long time, but John Farnham live is unbeatable. Incredible voice and performance !

  • Yes no one sings better than John Farnham backed by an amazing bunch of musicians. Hope John comes back for a 60th Birthday gig this year 2009

  • No one sings better live than john farnham, actually no one sings better than john farnham in general. Brandon Beard PERTH WA

  • He's good, innie!

This particular concert DVD is my role model for both drumming and singing, and a lttle bit for piano, but not as much, as some of Hirschfelder's stuff is too fancy and above me, as well as not totally my style...

  • Yeah iv'e got this dvd also it's one of my favourites from john, the chain reaction concert in perth was for three nights back in 1991 i went to all three LOL. Im in the fan club and i think thats it for john no more concerts or albums, he actually was going to do two or three(albums anyway) and maybe concerts but his manager glen who got into trouble as you would know kinda put him off doing anything else, well thats what i think anyway...

  • sorry.... i tabbed out his solos from this concert and this song 4 guitar. im a genius

  • Well, other people have done it too, but hey - it's not that many, and it sure as hell is more than I can do! :-p

  • such a great live version. got the dvd. jack is amazing. iv tabbed out his

  • Yeh, after hearing this one, no other version I've ever seen is good enough! :-)
