love the solo love your drum too excellent! omg i fikn love the rolls , one roll after another FUUUUUUCK! thats excellent man im definately gonna try and learn from this guy EXCELLENTE!
I am a Turk and I know this is not a Turkish technique...I am married to an Arab and they are the best of playing the Darbuka or Doumbek than any other non-arab player..I have a professional egyptian style drum that my Arab husband gave me from Morocco...He starts playing it and his rhythms are great
with out any lessons at all...Arabs are immuned to the Darbuka drum and always being exposed to Darbuka music for them to hear..It comes naturally to their own fingers when it comes to play..PEACE!
There is NO split-finger technique in this video. An Arab drummer is amazing and has incredible speed so everyone thinks he must be using Turkish technique? LOL!!! Anyway, this tehcnique is very common among all Arabs, and yes, a lot are just as fast as Faisal, but not all play with such clarity.
andriesu, glad you found this video. Wow, you sort of gave a compliment to an Arabic style player(finally) LOL. This is a short solo, it doesn't matter WHAT he played, but HOW he played it. Not too many drummers have such clean technique.

Faisal, very nice drumming. Two things: is that the new Remo synthetic fishskin head? If it is, how do you like it. It sounds pretty good. Another idea, why don't you post a video of your split finger technique and exercises to master it. Please do it slowly at first! Thanks
I just hope that the comments would be fare to the other drummers, Suhail and Issam are my friends and we work together some times, I my self appreciate their playing a lot. I would love it if we all can provide positive criticizem and objective suggestions, because we are all here to play music and make people enjoy our playing. It is great to know that there are people there who are watching and debating. Thank you all.
Faisal, upload more videos. Please! Your technique is amazing. Do you have an instructional DVD? If not, start working on one NOW. Yours would be the greatest teaching tool on the market.
Wouldn't it be fantastic if the really great drummers out there had a "drum-off"? It would be much easier to listen to and visually compare styles and techniques. Faisal, Issam, Souhail, Amir, Said, Gamal, and other drummers from the same style jamming together would be beautiful.
mination45 i`ll have to disagree with you, Souhail Kaspar is better than this guy. I'm not saying Faisal isn`t good ( i love his split finger technique) .. i`m jut saying kaspar is better than him.
Souhail is good, I like him as well. But Faisal's technique is so clean and smooth. He plays with no effort. Souhail's technique isn't as controlled and sometimes he's VERY BORING and repetitive. Maybe Souhail gets more respect because of his age? It seems like the younger drummers are overlooked even when they are better. I hear about Souhail all the time, I should have been hearing about this guy too is all I'm saying.
Somehow you are right . Sometimes Kaspar may sound a little repetitive but i think that`s because his sound is a little more commercial than others , i mean he plays for the large masses : he plays a lot of popular and well known darbuka beats in a manner that sounds "good" even to the uneducated listener; while this guy is more spiritual ..sort of speak
I just need to watch this video again. It's a shame that he's better than the "famous" tabla players but this is the first time I'm seeing his work. He is MUCH better than Issam, Souhail, Hossam, and a dozen of the other guys who are constantly setting up workshops and teaching things they don't know.
Hey now, this guy is a great drummer! Finally! I don't see too many great Arabic style players. I think maybe you are the 8th one on youtube. HAHA! I like your clean technique, and those are great sounds coming from your fingers. Very good job, I hope when beginners need something to practice with, they come to this video.

Souhail doesn't have the speed, clarity, and technique that this guy has. I too find him boring after watching other drummers.
