At 100 yards, those rounds, regardless of bullet TYPE will go clean through an inch and a half of steel plate, with armor piercers, they can go through several inches at as much as 600 yards.

It could be a .50 Beowulf or a .500 Jeffery.

Besides, you don't know how much his rifle weighs. Weight is a VERY major factor in recoil.

And trust me, if you want something special like APIT rounds for a specific chambering, you just need to know the right people.
