  • 2:54 to 3:45 is just freaking awesome like some reno stuff

  • Charlie is UNREAL on a 5 String banjo.....It doesn't matter what style it is. He can flat pick the crap out of a guitar too.

  • Jim Millsapps, as his name was given earlier in the comments, the guy at 3:51 is tearing that banjo up like a new ground! Man he is some kind of good! Looks like him standing outside while Charlie is playing, just casually waiting for his time with that mean ole Five String. Great music. Thanks!

  • some one shoot that damn dog

  • @riseofdixieland13 My thoughts too,but...!

  • Man! ran out of time, just when it was getting real good and gooder, sounding great guys, thats the way a jam should be.

  • Who is the fellow playing Banjo on "Goin Back to Ole Kentucky"? FANTASTIC!!!!!

  • The best ever Cumberland Gap! Mr. Cushman is perfect! And His banjo, too! I,ve listened to it at least 10 times, but never enough! It is the real taste, mood of BLUEGRASS!

    Thank YOU: from Hungary

  • Charlie Cushman is the freaking man. When he rolls in hot with that Reno action it's simply awesome.

  • That's a kick assed version of Cumberland Gap! Nice picking throughout. Them boys own the Bluegrass sound for sure!

  • He has an original Gibson pre war flathead. It's either that or the conversion with one of his dannick rings. He has a closet full of em. At one time he told me he owned more than 40 banjers...man imagine that! ALL of em soundin like that too! MAN that thing CRUSHES everyone else! Course charlie isn't gonna play anything other than gibson, WHO can blame him! NICE!

  • My mistake..It's an old TB11 conversion with a no hole dannick ring. Awesome banjer

  • Its obviously some old gibson of his, it looks like it has the hearts and flowers inlay design if thats any indication. Charlie Cushman could make a fence pail with some strings slapped on it sound good.

  • I don't think so Carter. If I'm not mistaken, it's a pre-war KK-11 conversion with a Dannick tone ring. There are other videos of Charlie playing a Bales banjo on YouTube.

  • I think you may be right, the Bales banjo clips are I believe the ones of Charlie pickin with Larry Mathis. My mistake

  • I do think that's a Bales Chihuahua in the background of this clip... ;0)

  • Probably the only Bales product Larry didn't have his eye on going home with, haha.

  • what banjo does Charlie play here?

  • This is my fav youtube video of all time. Charlie Cushman is a champion!

  • jim's a very good banjo player, he really rips those pull offs!...Charlie is an exceptional banjo technition, and player, nice guy too.

  • shoot the fuckin dog interupting good music like that

  • The guy who sings Little Cabin Home on the Hill has amazing vocal tone... Wish I had half the talent of both him and the banjo player(s).

  • The guy at 3:51 is very smooth also, must be great to sit at this guys house cause so dang music is being played there!

  • Jim Millsapps is his name. Him, Charlie and the other guys there (Ronnie Bales, Larry Mathis, etc) are pretty good friends.

  • How can it get any better than that! I saw Charlie in Maggie Valley NC once and was coolest of the cool, told me that he had been through 2 wifes and still had that same banjo! What a talent!!!

  • Shoot the yapping dog.

  • Oh wait, I guess not. Sorry, I didn't read your question thoroughly.

  • Charlie Cushman

  • That is Jim Millsapps

  • Who is the banjo player at the 3:51 mark on the video?
