@fctar As I said I already know this, the pink gi is to mock Ryo's red one and he also wears Rob black T-Shirt under his gi. He also does the little bicep flex Rob does as a taunt.
@TheBoredomOtaku Haoh Sho Koh Ken. Dan's Haoh is a pastiche of Ryo's (Fun fact: Dan did it first in SvC, an SNK game, under the name "Gadou Sho Koh Ken").
@Lioyd1rving I already know about Dan being there to mock KOF after KOF made Ryo pretty much the same as Ryu but with Kens gi colour and blonde hair. Dan was basically capcoms middle finger to them for stealing their characters :L
@TheBoredomOtaku To mock Art of Fighting, not KOF. (Another fun fact: behind Fatal Fury and Art of Fighting are the same two guys that did the first Street Fighter. Fatal Fury itself was already in development before SFII's release.)
@Lioyd1rving Well since Art Of fighting pretty much transcended to KOF they are pretty much mocking the same game/company anyway so I'm not wrong in saying either.
Was it a mock, though? The guys behind AOF were the same behind SF. But Ryu and Ken look alot like the main characters of the biggest fighting game franchise that came before, "karate Champ".
Let`s face it, Karate guys arent really original, in terms of visual power. They are just cool.
@MisterWhat If you look up the game Fighting Street that is Ryu and Kens first appearance where they had the famous Hadoken, Shoryuken and Tatsumaki senpu kyaku which they kept when putting them into Street Fighter 2 and so on. Those 3 moves pretty much set the base for a lot of future fighting game characters having a projectile, uppercut and a move to get across the screen. They couldn't copyright SF characters as they were based off of Japanese mythology so anyone could base them off that.
@TheBoredomOtaku Japaneze mythology? Maybe, but i think it`s more gaming mithology. There was already a fighting character named Ryu before the SF Ryu who had a spinning kick and a projectile attack. He just didn`t wore a Gi. And before that character there was "Champ", where Ryu and Ken are visually based from. Yes, you can`t copyright that, but the reason why AOF gets the slack, was because the creators of both that series are SF were one and the same, and players back then didn`t knew that.
@MisterWhat I have looked more into the oirigin's of Ryu and other street fighter characters, it seems the closest thing to an inspiration for Ryu was he was based off of the real life Korean Karate master Mas Oyama. Oyama had created hsi own style of karate and many years ago had traveled to Thailand to take on the biggest fighters in Muay Thai and defeated the champion Black Cobra. His legacy is also what spawned the creation of Mr Karate amongst the SNK fighters.
@MisterWhat If you look up the manga "Karate Baka Ichidai" which was made to portray the legacy of Oyama being the only man mad enough to take on the Thailand champions himself you will notice that Ryu and Sagat's designs in Street Fighter bare striking resemblence to Oyama and the Black Cobra's manga versions. Oyama has also fought many a wrestler in his life when travelling the US and pther countries which may be the inspirtaion for the many Wrestlers in SF and AOF, avoiding copyright.
Oh shit!!!! Raiden's a fucking monster now. I mean that in every sense of the word! The way he laughs when he does that super... if that doesn't make respectable, I don't know what will.
Ryo and Robert (<- one of the few characters representing Latino people along with Gears of War's Dominic, hu hu) are, I think, the two most "complete" characters from this sequel ie they retained most of their specials and super moves from the previous KOF.
When Robert does his multi-kick move = really awesome.
yeah i've been looking at that (started using raiden), at first i thought he broke them over his shoulders, but maybe he drops them behind them and lands on them. i hope he doesn't just fling them up there and let them drop, that would almost be the 3rd person who does that (goro, clark kinda)
Yeah its supposed to be a Kineku Buster but no one is in his arms lol!!! Sadly enough when the move K.O. an opponent i looks like a simple punch than have the opponent has a special hurt animation for it this is a rush job. Also i P.O. that clark does not have the "Running three" or the "Fireman carry" on his DM move.
he could be italian... either way its the similar shit one has an eagle on the flag mix with some native american then the other one is just plain and has a variety of mixes lol
It really don't matter anymore,it has no story line anyway,on the next part when they have the story line, than they better put all them people in there.
Glad to see Ryo's "pseudo-just defended/parry" is in this game, I used to play KoF 00 with a friend and most of the times I countered his moves with it he would say 'WTF this isn't Garou!'.
Oh well, I shouldn't be complaining though, because while 360 and PS3 owners get all these other fighting games... Wii owners definitely deserve some of their own. They even have a pretty nice looking arcade stick too.
I was already shit afraid of Kim. This video didn't help much D:
GOD I love Raiden's grapple DM. But it looks like they disappear when they fall. Shouldn't they be laid out on their back like for Abyss's Shock Treatment?
Its called 2d, animated frame by frame. A totally different art style compared to 3d. I may not like the direction they went in design but this is one of the smoothest looking fighters since 3s or garou.
I can't believe this is only a month away. I'm stoked. I just bought KoF '99 from the Playstation Store, too. I believe Garou is due for a Live Arcade release, as well. I'm doing my part in showing SNK that it has a NA fanbase!
@fctar Haha it's fine :L

@bludot44cal You really should wait for XIII, it won't be long 'til it's announced for consoles and XII is infamous for being horribly bare-bones.

Kensou
Roberto
Iori

@Discharg3 Normally I don't bother with trolls, but I'd like to point out that a sequel is by definition some degree of a rehash...

Robert is a carbon copy of his 94 version. As far as Repping Latino's goes in fighters Pepe Rodriguez is the Nicest of them all (On the low).
