  • I'm sure you'll love it when you get it back. Don't expect it to be very quick though. They're just great fun to ride and really turn heads :o)

  • just got myself a tw125 and i love it! it's in the workshop at the moment as it dropped a valve. only got up to 55mph but that may have been due to the valve. it is having a new piston kit, new valve and a few other little bits so hopefully it will improve its top end. thinking of respraying it too. nice video, decals look cool too!

  • @Iforsdyke I can get my TW up to 70 at a push but there's very little acceleration beyond 40 so 70mph duel carrageways can be a little scary on it. That said, it's a great 1st bike to learn on. I'm moving on to a Hornet 600 soon but i'll be sad to see my little TW go!

@markspeedtriple Great video made for a great bike. Thanks mate!

  • @Flea3po1983 thanks for your comment... still miss this little bike and would love to get another one as a weekend toy at some point

  • @Flea3po1983 i can never bring my self to get rid of mine lol

  • i was told it's super slow! xD but it's not, is it?

  • @Poltergeyst TW's aren't very quick but they keep up with the traffic and it would cruise at 60-65 with me on. It will go pretty quick if you keep the revs up

  • wow greaT!

  • @bboykiddinamit1 thank you :o) glad you like it

  • thinking about a tw, for my test, can they pull 70mph,just thinking about dual carriageways, i don't like poodling along at 50 on an A road

     lol

  • @lforsdyke It used to get to 70+ regularly with my girlfriend on board but struggled a bit with me on... I'm 6'2" so a bit big for the bike really. It would happily sit at 60mph though and would get to 70 with a following wind and with my chin on the tank! :o) Not a very quick bike but it kept up with the traffic

  • looked better before.

  • I cant remember which high temperature i used, but i seem to remember it being Hammerite.

    Good luck with it !

  • hi thanks for the help!! I never thought of taking pictures to help keep track of everything, great idea. Ill wait till the winter to start stripping down, as i don't want to rush the work. what high temp paint did you use, iv tried the Halfords stuff and found it was crap. ill Make a video when im finished. thanks again. henry

  • Hope all that helps...

    Cheers,

    Mark

  • The engine was in pretty clean condition anyway so i was just going to hand paint it, using some high temperature paint, but, as the rest of the bike was looking so good, i decided to rub it down as best i could and then gave it a few coats of high temperature spray paint, which was the same as the stuff i used on the exhaust. The front section of the exhaust discoloured quite quickly, but then a touch up every now and then would keep that looking good, if it bothered you too much.

  • For the plastics and tank, I used Plasti-kote paint, which is very durable and, more importantly, flexible so it didn't crack, even when the plastics were flexed. I rubbed all of the bodywork down and primed it all first with standard grey primer.

  • hello, thank you for your message. It took months and months! Well sort of... I made a start at it, by stripping the bike and taking photos to show where everything went, especially the electrics. That took the best part of a day as I was making sure i kept all the bits together so i knew which bit belonged where. Then it sat in the shed for months, before i dragged it out and did all the work over 3 weekends.

  • hi love what you have done, and a great vid. I have the 04 tw125, which is in a similar state to how yours was, i would like to do almost exactly what you have done, how long did this take you to do, im a fairly busy at the moment, could it be done in a weekend? how did you prep and spray the engine, and what paint did you use. what paint did you use for the plastics and did it last or did it crack? what was your total cost roughly?

  • it looked GOOD in the end

  • i got a ccm cxr 125. but gonna swap it for a 2000 tw125. modified streetfigher.

then hopefully when i pass my DAS get a street triple.

can't stop thinking about naked bikes lol.

ps excellent project mate very inspiring.take it easy on that speedtrip man

  • @98cdodd

Thank you for your comment :o) Good luck with the TW. They're a brilliant bike!

  • Good video, im getting mine in 2 days, my first bike! good to see people say its a good learner bike and fun also, exactly what i needed.

  • great stuff.. i'm sure you'll love it once you get used to it. The controls and everything feel very light and it's stable at low speeds. Great choice of bike to start on. You will probably find you have to ring it's neck a bit to get good acceleration out of it but it stands up to that very well as it's a very un-stressed engine . Enjoy :o)

  • Not yet, I'm about to buy one, ... you know i don't have that money to spend for a low mileage one. But i'm familliar with mechanic. Do you think it worth it?

  • @eric140777

Yes, definitely worth looking at. The 125 isn't very quick but will sit at 60mph (just under 100kph). The TW shares a lot of it's parts with the Yamaha Serow, so getting parts isn't difficult. Very reliable and great fun, just not the quickest 125 out there.

  • well done dude. Was it not too difficult??

  • @eric140777

It took quite some time and patience. I scraped most of my knuckles, but it wasn't too difficult really. It helped that the bike is relatively small and easy to lift things like the engine and frame by myself. It's the first time i've ever done anything like this, so i'd definitely give it another go now!

    Do you have a TW?
