i have three border collies who are not working dogs and i play with them all the time, one of them is a blue merle and, in my opinion border collies are by far the best dogs (not just as working dogs) but as companions aswell, very affectionate

I guess @nemesisvega would like to think that puppies play-fighting with each other would hinder their training as well... this is perfectly natural interaction...

@nemesisvega dont be so bloody silly, i had a blue merle collie cross he was excellent, we took him training from a young age and he was so obedient, we got the dog when i was five and i used to wrestle with him all day every day, we grew up together and i was still teaching him new tricks well into his fourteenth year i do admit i have a couple of scars from wrestling with him but hes a dog and his teeth were sharp but he was always apologetic and well behaved. never agressive. great dog.

@Mattyroxx49 im not too sure about golden, but i know that border collies neeed alot of exercise or else theyr become dustructive, aswell for huskys as they are sled dogs and they need to run, so you need to have the time to walk them every day for 1-2 hours.

I've always wanted a blue merle. my border collie Twist is a year and a half and she's the best! I don't understand why these dogs end up in shelters? I've been around BC's my whole life and I don't think they're any harder than any other dog? they're way smarter and I find easier to train. if people can't handle them then they shouldn't have any dogs!

BCs seem to need tons of exercise and activity. They're bred to be working dogs after all, running around in fields all day. If they don't have that outlet, it's understandable they could get a little crazy.

It's sad, though, a lot of people get them without understanding what they're getting themselves into. Border Collies are a lot of work, and many of them are put into shelters because their owners couldn't handle them =( I love my year and a half one, though, she's such a sweetie.
